Detailing this weekend - need opinions on Meguiar products

We can't get Klasse, Zaino, Pinnacle, 3M, Zymol (or any other well known brands) over here in Malaysia. The only stuff we can buy consistently is Meguiar's and Autoglym. No clay bars here either.

That said, I'm planning to detail my car this weekend (after a wash with dishwasher fluid) with either of these steps. Which scheme would you recommend or do you have any changes to make to these steps instead. Any help is appreciated.

Scheme 1

1) Surface prep with Meguiar's GC Clear Coat Prep And Swirl Remover (I think this stuff is discontinued but I have some if it left)

2) Apply Meguiar's GC Wax

3) Seal with Autoglym EGP

Scheme 2

1) Surface prep with Meguiar's DCS Step 1

2) Polish with Meguiar's DCS Step 2

3) Apply Meguiar's GC Wax (although I heard that GC Wax may negate some of the effects of Step 2 Polish)

4) Seal with Autoglym EGP

Thank you in advance!

Klasse Direct sells Klasse and Mother's Clay Bar (along with plenty of other products).

According to their site, they handle international orders.

I've had great success ordering from them. Everything I order was shipped out on the same day and arrived in at most two days later.

Perhaps that will circumvent your problems.

Their site is:

Personally I'd look at http://www.motorhead.net because for both Canadian and International orders they'll let you select USPS (US Postal) Air, which will probably be cheaper than a courier like UPS. Tradeoff: UPS will charge you a lot for brokerage, but as a result it speeds through customs. USPS won't, but then it might be held at the border a bit longer.

Their Klasse is a tiny bit more expensive, but I try and avoid couriers like the plague! :p They sell other product lines too.

EDIT: I don't think Autoglym EGP will stick on top of Gold Class. What made you choose this combo? It's a bit odd you have the same location and question as E46Fanatic.... Anyway, see my full reasoning here: http://www.autopia-carport.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=104503#post104503

i'm a friend of E46Fanatic and yes, we're both at the same location :)

i will try the international orders bit thanks.

thanks again everyone. will try out your suggestions!

I'm a big fan of Meguiars' - not that I use them exclusively, but they are my default when I need a new class of product - and generally I am satisfied. If I am not I try something else, and I listen to this board for the loudest rants and raves - which is how I learned about Souveran, for example. Of all the brands you can find easily at retail, I think they're the most trustworthy. They have 4 product lines: Deep Crystal (maroon colored bottles); Gold Class (black packaging), Mirror Glaze (beige), and Body Shop Professional (also beige). when you can get one of the others, avoid the deep crystal line - it is the cheapest and is often a lower quality blend.

I don't know what the EGP is - but if it is a polymer sealant you can't apply over non-polymer waxes.

Meguiars' polishes are non-abrasive and contain oils. You can wax over them without losing all of the effect - but some of the wax products contain oils too, as well as solvents - so some of the effect is lost/mixed/replaced with the new layer - this is pretty much true no matter what products you use.

thanks for the info carguy. we can only get GC and Deep Crystal stuff here... no mirror glaze or pro body shop series. i guess i'll stick to GC stuff then :)
