Detailing the Stove..SICK [56k go boil some water]

So I moved into a new apartment and everything seemed top notch.. until I got curious and looked more closely at the range. I guess the last tenant was an expert at burning food and then cleverly hiding it all under the drip pans.

The battlefield:

I fell for the hype and picked up some GREEN all purpose cleaner. Label on the back says it uses natural coconut oil and lemon extract. We'll see how well it does.

One of many casualties...must have been Lipton Instant Noodles. :scared:

The damage.. I have already sprayed APC onto these areas to let it soak.

Pay special attention to the area where the heating element connects. I plan on getting these especially clean.

I have no idea how long this stuff has been sitting here. As far as I know, it is a health hazard by now. :nervous2:

Some of it is stuck on like concrete..

More pics to come...

Haha, my mum uses the tinfoil thing. If we had that type of stove she'd prolly do the same thing @.@

Can't wait for the rest of this thread :)

FYI-the top lid of the stove (most likely) raises up to make it easier to get in there. Give it a yank. That's kind of like trying to detail your engine with the hood closed. :)

Here are the afters. I let the APC soak overnight and today I attacked the tough stuff with some Comet powdered cleaner.

Cleaning the heating coils..

There's still a few specks here and there, but I didn't intend to spend more than a day on this.

Ready to cook...

You should get some of those foil drip pans that go underneath the burners.

I use that Clorox stuff all over my house. I LOVE it. It smells great, totally natural and works incredibly well. It replaces a lot of traditional household cleaners.

Seconded. It cuts through most grease and grime that chemical cleaners do, but it doesn't have a harsh smell.

Yeah, what was the LSP? We all know that you didnt just leave it cleaned and not put something on it. I woulda hit that with OCW.

So I see you moved into my old apartment. :geez

Wow great job! I was wondering if that Green cleaner was any good. I'm going to pick some up now for sure.
