Detailing the Detail Machine

As I was getting ready for another weekend of detailing topping off spray bottles and organizing microfiber towels, I decided to clean up some of my money makers. A quick glance at my LHR 15ES Mark II showed the polisher has been used.

Here`s the inside after removing the backing plate.

Even the screw was caked with polish and compound.

A lug nut brush with Optimum Power Clean was all I needed.

When set my RUPES down face up, there are two contact points that were starting to get scuffed and scratched. So I decided to protect those two areas with red CarPro masking tape. I then added the green 3M masking tape in the center by request to make it look like Raphael (the teenage mutant ninja turtle).

I put the polisher back together with no leftover screws and it cranked right up.

Gotta stay clean to work clean :)

What brand of polish/compounds are you using, it`s impossible to not have polish buildup of any level on the plates
I`m just curious if what your using is solvent/oil based, the water based polishes certainly help with cleanup and do not stick to everything like concrete which the older solvent based types do
A spritz of water and it`s dissolved and wiped off.

Nice job on the cleanup, I love keeping my special DA and rotary machines clean, the mark of a pro
been to plenty of detail shops that have machines covered in crap and never changed the brushes once.

I am a firm believer in cleaning the tools that you work with. I don`t do it like I should, but I think it is very important
