Detailing product of your country

Dear Autopians,

While most of autopia members are from USA, there is some of member come from another country that dont have the luxury of zaino, poorboys, etc .

I really like to know what is the detailing product prefered or popular by people in your country.

I live in Indonesia and here is the detailing product that can be found or well known in my country.

Elite:

-Meguiars,3M,Autoglym,Zymol,Soft 99

This is considered to be the top of the line detailing product in my country. Mainly used ini expensive detailing shop. The price is expensive in my country standard ( NXT booster wax around USD 25 :shocked )

Popular Stuff:

-Turtle Wax, Armor All, Amway,Auri Gold

People considered this as a best value in detailing product. Yes mostly it is because it is imported :D

Yes maybe it is an OTC product in your country but it is considered a goog product in here.

Local Hero:

- Kit, Sonax,Dobelli (claim to be imported from Germany :nixweiss

, Autosol, SanPoly

Mostly imported brand, but has been manufactured in here. There are some localy brand, but not very popular. This is the most prefered product to use by "common people" because the price is cheap.

The quality of the product is so-so. But some is actually good (Sonax tyre shine is my favorit up until now. It not bringing the tyre with glossy appearances but rather with a black new tyre look)

Unsung Hero

Carlack68, Wurth

Used to be a top of the line but become not so popular because of the arrival of Megs, 3M, Autoglym

Thanks to Autopians to the information that Klasse is 95% identical to Carlack68, cause the price is much lower then the elite product but with the same result comparably. Wurth is also a nice product also.

This is the line of product that well known in my country, so what about yours?

I am from Thailand, BKK where MEG detailing shop, Carlack and Autoglym detailing shops are spawning like mushrooms ( mushrooms eh!)

The price of both MEGS and Autoglym are absurdly high. NXT price varies from 32.5$ - 57$. The retail price is at 57$ if i remember correctly. A gallon of Final inspection is at 87.5$. We cannot fully enjoy variety of quality products from MEG since they sell just a few products from consumer lines.

For Professional line, they don't import in a 16 Oz. They sell only in gallon. DACP is sold at 67.5$ a gallon. They target this product only for paint shop and that's why they sell this line very quietly.

3M is more accessible. But due to very hot weather here, it dries wayyy tooo fast..I only use glaze and wax of 3M sometimes.

The Sonax car shampoo used to be a favorite amongst Autopians in the US before Sonax stopped selling here. Give that a try if you haven't :)

Hi, Tanat.

Same as here, meg doesnt sell their mirror glaze line in here. Only for body shop or detailing shop. Only Deep Crystal and Gold class for retail. And price is way too expensive imho.

BTW what is the favorit product in Thailand?

Hi Perry,

Sonax is pretty cheap in here. But I dont know if the line that sell here is the gloss shampoo that sell in U.S.

Try it, and quite like it though. Seem like a pure shampoo with no wax whatsoever in it.

Virtually all detail shops use the cheapest products around and will only use meguiars and other top quality brands for the really nice cars.

In South Australia, Car Chem products are the #1. Unfortunately this stuff is absolute crap, harsh on the environment and humans

Besides them there is Omikron, magnum top gear, Autosmart, Pacer, Malco and 3M

Autosmart is the best bulk brand but I only use and sell autopian products

Hi cuekaje

Megs nowadays is probably trying to conquer the market. I seriously doubt that they can under the price and selection they have. But their reputation is very good. PPL regard their products very highly. The favourite product is very mixed between Eagle, Carlack and Amway. The prices are competitive. :argue

I usually buy online. But i can get Eagle One, Mothers, Meguiars, Sonax, Autosmart, Carlake and many more brands localy. We have a Finnish brand called Korrek and i love their products for winteruse. Lahega(Swedeish brand) has some great products too.

Hmmm... I guess my dad did pretty well then.

I went back to Thailand to visit my parents last year.

I brought along about 20 products with me (I took my

autopian chemical collections and divide into half and take

them back). I brought back alot of mf towels too.

I think my dad was shocked with my array of arsenals.

I don't think he understand/care about the differences between

paint cleaner, polish, glaze, LSF, etc.

The only thing I did not take back was my PC.

(My dear wife saw me packing it and she gave me a withering

look and so I backed off. I guess I did not want to chance it either with the required transformer).

At any rate, I managed to detail his four cars by hands over

the duration of a few days. It wasn't fun doing it in a 90+ degree

environment. Chemicals dried real fast, though.

My arms almost fell off (his chauffeur did a pretty

good adding massive swirls to his cars). :p

Hi, SVR

I had a chat one day with a person (a friend of mine) who happen to be the owner of bowdens. They claim it is one of the top end product in Aussie. What do you think about Bowden?

ps: I have a pm notification from you, but i dont get the message...

Hi, Tanat.

Im curious about carlack. Do they sell it in yellow and red bottle also? What is the difference in your opinion?

I did some little test, and i found the cleaning abbillity is equal. But the red bottle seem to be more wet in result than the yellow one.

Red bottle...do you mean Klasse? AFAIK, CarLack68 comes in yellow bottle similar to Klasse AIO. I don't think they market the CarLack products to the mass (probably some sort of licencing agreement) so as not to clash with Klasse.

Also I have tried both, they looked similar, smelled similar and give me the similar results.

Khun Tanat, I recently saw a M-B with Thai reg-plate load up his car boot with Meg's products. Total bills is easily above thousands of US$. Was told Meg's product is sold at a premium in Thailand. Know of any good and reliable detailing centres in Bangkok? I still keep a car in my Bangkok home although I am currently living and working in Singapore...

Bowdens I have not tryed but I know there microfibre is the same stuff that's sold at concourse car care, wax it and eclipse detailing

It's excellent quality but the stuff I'm using and selling now is way better

Hi Silgt,

There is two version of carlack in Indonesia. One is yellow and one is red. The red version is slightly expensive than the red one.

It is told that the red is last longer. Both have same cleaning abilities but the red seem to be more wet in result than the yellow one. The yellow is more thicker than the red one....

Cuekaje,

Just call me if you decided to get the Menzerna, P21S or some Microfiber towels.

Thank you very much X-Trail
