I am going to be detailing my Dad's 69 Corvette pretty soon. The car is LeMans Blue with original paint. it only has 33,xxx original miles on it. Beautiful car, 427/435hp. He bought it original in late 1968 when he got home from Vietnam.
Here are my questions. The car has original paint and I am afraid of taking too much off. The car has some parts where the paint is really thin ( where the lines on the car are sharp ). According to my Dad, they never had a lot of paint on them, even from the factory.
Here are the products I am going to have available -
Clay Bar
Klass AIO
Four Star UPP
SSR 2.5
SSR 1
PB Professional Polish
PwC (BLue)
Natty's (Blue)
Meguiars #7
Meguiars NXT
All of this will be by hand with microfiber. The wheels are the original steel wheels with a beauty ring and hub cap. I have Mothers Aluminum Polish for those.
Any suggestions as to what products and what to watch out for?
