Detailing new cars

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
someone ought to make a guide about detailing new cars (jngrbrdman!!!). anyways, my friend is gonna get a new RSX white in a few weeks, with a preformance package (i think). anyways, i was wondering what i should do. here in hawaii, i figure that the car has been standing around for at least a month, because it takes a while to ship etc etc. my mom works at the docks. heres what im thinking

wash
clay bath
FP II
Z2/ZFX
canuba topper after cure time

the general idea is, i wanna keep his car permantly protected, and im not too worried about sacrificing depth, because its white. on the other hand, i do indeed think that by topping with some sorta canuba, it may bring out a bit more clarity. what do you guys think? should i go AIO UPP instead of FP II z2? what i want to concentrate on mainly is the protection, because this car is gonna be in the sun 24/7. he said he wants to keep it really nice and really clean.........

anything i should be careful of?
thanks

Yeah....watch out for that class ring scratching the paint!!! haha!! Congrats to your friend on the new car and to you on being the detailer. Hopefully you'll find a combo that works. I am sure you'll make it look great. :cool

My combo for new cars is...wash, clay if needed, then I go over it once with Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba and top it off with EX or EX-P, maybe top that with Natty's if the owner so desires.

White cars are harder to detail because they already look pretty perfect. Give me a nice 10 year old oxidized red Toyota any day. :D With a new car there is just the standard stuff that you should do to any car. Being new shouldn't make a whole lot of difference. You may be able to skip the polishing stage, but everything else should be the same. However, you don't really need to wait for the Z2 to cure if you are using ZFX. That is kind of the whole point of ZFX. It eliminates the cure time. You can hit it with carnauba right away. I don't know that I would go the Zaino route on white though... I've got a white Acura and I think I would go for something like UPP or WG before Zaino. I've seen Zaino on an RSX and it wasn't really my flavor. 3 layers of Wolfgang or UPP on white with a carnauba topper is a jaw dropper. It may not be possible on a one time detail, but I can tell you first hand that if you do white up properly, then you are going to stop traffic when people see it. I was upgrading something on my car a couple months ago right before a car show, and everybody who was either working in the shop or just hanging out there was drooling over the paint on my car. My car isn't anything special, but it had 3 layers of Wolfgang on it already and one layer of P21S. There were black and red cars in the shop that nobody was paying attention to. Trust me on the WG on white... It is really awesome. :bigups

hmmm, ive really been pondering over this one........ i could

AIO UPP
VM EX-P
PWC EX-P

so many options. as of now, im starting to lean towards PWC and EX-P, although i reallly want to try out the UPP on white

hey zesty...

if he's pickin' it up from the Pflueger Acura...you should think again about skippin' the polish step! One of my buddies picked up a TL and TSX from them and both had major holograms... Shouldn't be so bad with white...but his Carbon Grey was BAD!!!

Your reading futher into this than need be. I treat new cars the same as most. I do not use any SWR but

clay
polish
sealant
wax

That's my .02 on it!

lol gotcha. i'm actually starting to think that AIO UPP would be sufficient for ultimate slickness on white

i have no experience with that procedure, but im sure that it does. heck, i think both AIO and EX-P are very compatabile products

Yes it should be easily compatible, but I say ProPolish as a substitute. Zesty you will like the AIO / UPP Combo. By far the best stuff I've had on the Bimma

Zesty, does AIO (Klasse) topped with EX-P work ok?

THX

On my silver car, EX-P looked great topping AIO. The 1st coat was nice, the second coat was WOW.

Here's a link to a few photos right after the 1st coat:

The cat is named Miles. I wish I had pics after the 2nd coat, but my sister had my camera.

My next combo is VM + EX-P x2 + Signature...currently I've got AIO + Signature x2.
