Detailing my Dad's Black GP GT

Hello fellow Autopians:D

My Dad is going out of town for business this weekend. He won't be back until Tuesday and I would like to do a really special detail for him,,, mumms the word. He really loves his GP. We have some BF Polish and Paint Protection. The new Car kit from CMA.

Last time we used it, it smeared and seems like the wax would never dry. I have learned a few things too about BF. I'm not the only one who realizes that BF can smear. Try spraying down the applicator with QD or distilled water, or , QD and a MF towel to help remove excess residue. None of these we have tried yet. I really want to make the car look it's aboslute best with what we have. My Dad has already made it very clear to me that a clay bar will not touch that car for a long time. I told him what the clay bar does and that it is very easy to use and will benefit the car's paint. He still does not want to use one, so I"m not going to argue. I plan to use foam and terry applicators to apply the polish and wax. If the BF smears I would like to try the steps as I mentioned earlier. If anyone else wants to jump in for some suggestions, tips, or anything I would much appreicate it. Tks all,,,,,91

You mentioned that you are going to use either foam or terry applicators to apply the BF. Is that what you used before when you got the smearing? I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I use MF applicators to apply both the polish and the protectant, and only had a tiny amount of smearing one time (and I've used BF II on at least five different cars). The smearing was on the second coat too, and some Quik Shine took it right off. I also let the AFPP dry for about 40 mins to an hour. Good luck!

I did it up on the GP. Wash, did clay and that was sucessful and the BF thing. I put it on thinner than paper by hand and worked it in. I did the whole car, going around and applying it to the point where you can't even see it, but it was there. I went inside for dinner and let the car dry for 2 hrs. The BF came off super easy and didn't smear. So Far so good, everything went as expected and the car looked great,,,,,WRONG!!!!!!!! I got it out in the sunlight and omg  :scared  I could see oily residue all over the car. It shined like crazy but it looked as if someone just dumped motor oil all over it. I got the BF QD out and went back to work. It looked alittle better but I was not a happy camper at all. Dad Was happy with it but he said he's not fond of the oily residue and told me it's not my fault. We pitched the BF away and were going to try something else. This time something that were confident in and have always had good luck with,,,,Meguiars, not there consumer products. I would love to see Z on that car but were not taking anymore chances with it.

BF shines like crazy as very slick but it;s oily and it just down right sucks to work with. Here;s a pic of my Dad's GP.

Yeah, they should just have it be a free-for-all. That would rule...

It is likely that the site you are linking from no longer allows external linking. Many sites don't let you link from another site to the pictures you post there. If you are getting images hosted for free, then that's what you get. At least here you get some free storage space, and you can even upload your picture right into your post.

Does anyone here besides me notice one fairly common thing in many if not all of the posts by F-150_91? Someone is always picking on him and he is mad at everyone. Heaven forbid you don't agree with him. 20 years old, but possibly with some growing up to do.

Poor, poor F150_91. Nobody seems to understand his ranting, foul-mouthed problems.

The thought had occured to me.

In a lot of his posts an awful lot of intense frustration and agitation comes through, especially how he punctuates many of his statements with !!!!!!!!!!! and questions with ??????????? It gives the impression of a highly excited person on the verge of losing it and isn't helpful to him.

Also in cases where problems arise and a solution cannot be easily found he is a bit prone to simply giving in to despair and frustration rather than trying harder to solve the problem or understand what's happening. It is easy to blame the products for poor results. It is easy to blame Autopia or its authority figures (mods) for not being able to post a picture. It is HARD to admit that you may be doing something wrong and try to solve the problem.

You're not supposed to try and smash problems with fury and anger, you're supposed to solve them and learn. Otherwise you're taking a detour back to before the stone age....

No need to get so upset over a very minor issue. In the big picture of life it's just not that important.

Choose your battles. This shouldn't be one of them. We are here to help.
