Detailing my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee: What to do?

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. It is in very good shape but just needs a good detailing. I have been detailing cars for the past 3 years starting when I was 15. I have kept it waxed and looking good but recently I have had no time because I am in college now. I was wondering if anyone has gotten their Jeep professionally detailied and if so how much and what were the results like. I could do it myself but I would have to buy a kit such as the Meguiars one with a Portor Cable orbital biffer/polisher and all the cleaners and glazes but it is about $250. Could I get the paint buffed down to remove the light surface scratches and have it polished to its original shine for under that amount. How much is something like this? Any help would be great, thanks!

Thanks for the info! Your Jeep looks great! I will look into professional detailers but I may pick up a Porter Cable buffer/polisher, some Meguiars compounds, a glaze, and a nice wax such as Zymol (the $35 one not the cheap ones in Wal-Marts). I will get some estimates and see what the detailers have to say and if I don't liek what I hear I will do it myself. Anyone else have any prices or what has been done to their cars by a professional detailer?

Thanks,

-Ryan

Buy a PC for $120 at Coastal Tools. Purchase Megs SMR or DACP and NXT. Your total should come out to less than $200.

I charge $200 for an exterior detail on an SUV.

Even working by hand you can get nice results. If you've been detailing for 3 years you've got to have some products in your inventory. You don't need a machine to detail a vehicle but it sure helps if you're gonna detail for $$$.

I have a bunch of products lying around form Meguiars such as their Medallion series and Mirror Glaze products. I just heard that you get better results with a machine and they are better at buffing using compounds. I do know what I am doing but its time that I am sort of short of so I was thought a pro detialer would be better.

Buy your own stuff. Why would you spend the money for someone to clean it ONE time, when you could spend the same amount of money and clean it MANY times.

Claybar = $15

PC w/ yellow and white pads = $150

Most swirl mark removers = $15

NXT, S100, etc. = $15

Towels and mitts = $30

$225

Then all you need is 3-4 hrs. :xyxthumbs
