Detailing meet for Ohio / KY Autopia members

This thread is to gauge the interest in setting up an Ohio / KY Autopian meet in late July somewhere in the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area. I would like to invite Scottwax when he is making his return trip to KY with his kids.

I would like the meet to be a demonstration of Scott's techniques in exterior / interior care / rejuvination, general tips for detailing, PC use, sharing of business tips and I could do some information on interior repairs (such as seats, carpets and headliners).

Please indicate your interest in attending the meet and any suggestions that you might have to make it a success. We would also need a location so if any have any suggestions or thoughts as to where we could hold it (preferrably a "closed on the weekend" business location that we could have access to water and electricty) please mention that as well.

I'm going to send Mike at Meguier's a PM to see if a rep could come as well.

I should be up there in late July. I have to get my kids back in time for high school football. I am also anxious to see how VM/EX-P/#16 holds up on their Mom's Explorer and #80/VM holds up on their Grandmother's Cadaver...I mean Cavalier. Different climate, vasty different washing techniques (if at all!) so it should be a real good test.

Once I get the date nailed down, I'll let y'all know. It would be great to meet some 'fly-over country' Autopians. Maybe Jimamary (he is in Indiana) could also attend?

Sounds good to me. I live in Indy, so it would be a short drive.

As far as location, there is an annual Miata get together in Cincinnati that they have at the Owl overlook in Winton Woods park. It's a convenient location with tons of room.

Keep us posted!

Great response so far. Hope that a few more chime in. We'll await Scott as to his prefered date. I'll be contacting a few detailing suppliers to see if we can get some samples and maybe even a door prize or 2!

Rickindy, would there be any access to water / electricity at that location?

I would most definitly be up for that!!! I want to watch a professional in action, since I'm just starting:up

Just let me know when and where!!

I can't remember whether there is water access there or not.

It seems like there would be, there's a restroom facility very close, so I'm guessing water is available. Also, it's a well-developed park.

Maybe somebody from Cincy could run over and take a look for us.

I'm certainly up for it. A Sunday would be best for me...

Automotive International is based there.

Ron Ketchum is National Sales Manager.

They have a full detail facilitywith room for at two cars.

Are they willing to host an enthusiast event, involving LOTS of other brands? Maybe not. I dunno.

Certainly an option worth checking into.

I could throw a few tools (PCs, rotaries, pads) in my trunk.

I'd have to say that AI is out as to location as I would rather keep it Autopian controlled that way no one can complain about multiple brands being used / displayed.

I'm a little iffy on a park smack dab in the middle of summer on a Sunday. We could be really pushed for space and it sounds as if water / electricty might be an issue.

What would be great would be a business that is closed on the weekend that we could use their parking lot / water and electricity. Maybe we could detail the owner's car as payment. Anybody got any ideas to this line of thought in the northern KY / Cincy area? Looks to be a pretty decent turnout so a decent sized lot would be required.

Some things that I am working on... Donations from suppliers to be used as door prizes and displays from suppliers. I'm not letting it out of the bag who I am contacting but would appreciate any suggestions that you guys might throw out.

Some WWs and other nice MFs would be great, as would any rotary-sized pads.
