Detailing in different weather

I am thinking about maybe doing a couple of cars on the weekend for pay. I have a full time other job. The only thing I can't figure out is how to handle the sun. What do you guys do in sunny weather? Yeah, I know about Poorboy's sun proof products, but what about the other products? If someone wants their car detailed at, say noon, and it is 90 degrees, how do you do it? This might seem like a dumb question, but I would like to get some input. Obviously, detailers can't work in the rain unless they have a portable tent also? Is a portable tent always the rule?

wondering......

Not only are you going to need shade for the car, but for yourself once it hits mid-summer. Before I had my tent I could only hope there was some trees near by for shade. Yes PB's products make its much easier, but it's so nice to have the shade. I don't know your location, but it goes into the triple digits on some days here in Georgia. So other than a pop-up tent I don't know of any other solution.

Poorboy's is not the only company who has products that will work in the sun. Many polishes will work in the sun, the only thing is you are losing oils to the sun. Lot's of products like megs 80 and 83 will work.

As for washing, I would use a waterless or rinseless wash so you can do 1 section at a time and not have to worry about drying from the sun.

As for wax, i have tried to remove it once it has baked onto the paint.. not fun. Use a WOWO wax, this way the wax dosen't dry on the paint and become a pita.

just my opinion of course,

Mike

If you are planning on doing this as a part time gig I would look at buying some type of tent. There not that expensive, and there pretty easy to set up. No matter what product you use its always best to have some shade and not direct sun light in the 90's and 100's for hours. The beating the heat can put on you can take all the fun out of detailing.
