Detailing for the DUB show *56K* warning

GOT PREP?
This car belongs to the owner of Wheel Workz, it is his daily driver but was going to be pulling “show duty Sunday at the DUB magazine car show. He needed it spruced up a little and got in touch with me. When I was contacted three weeks ago I was already taking appointments for June. I went ahead and took a day off from 9-5 to detail this car; I spent all day with her Friday8.5 hours total. :D

The car was in fairly decent shape and did not have to detail the interior, that’s just fine with me.

The process was:

Wash

Claytons of bonded contaminants

Dry

Tape up

Buff with 3M Perfect-it III Machine glaze with a Meguiars polishing pad @1500 RPM’s

Buff with Menzerna final polish II via PC and a finishing pad

Wash again with a microfiber mitt to remove compounding dust

Apply 1Z metallic polish by hand

Apply one coat of optimum polymer technologies spray wax by hand

Tires were dressed with Meguiars hyper dressing

Wheels polished with Meguiars NXT all metal “polysh

Glass cleaned with NXT glass cleaner

Exhaust polished with NXT all metal “polysh

The engine was degreased, but no dressing was applied. I polishes all of the hose clamps as well as the air intake with Meguiars NXT all metal “polysh.

Here are the befores:

The car was not transported from the shop to the showthey drove it. I knew that it would need to be wiped down before the show so I left the guys at the shop a stash of microfiber towels and explained how to minimize marring. When I saw the car at the show, it definitely had some new marring from the wipe down. Oh well, what can you do?

Here are a couple of shots of the car at the show. They changed the wheels from 22 to 24.

The owner was nice enough to place some of my cards in the window--*very* cool.

And not to worry, even with the new marring from the wipe down, it looked 1 million times better than this GTO!! :soscared:

Nice work, but oh how I hate those cars. So ugly. With rims like that I would upgrade the brakes. Stock rotors look terrible through those spokes.

damn how can they fit 24s on those lol, doesnt even look drivable. congrat man, u got some serious pop out of that color, looks great

That is an awesome color. I think it's called brilliant black crystal pearl. I saw a new Charger SRT8 in the same color and it was more than stunning!

Very nice work and you didn't even have to touch the interior :bigups

Factory paint, beautiful color, huh?

Yep, I do a Charger with the same paint, just unreal flake!

Excellent work as usual, the paint and engine look beautiful! :buffing:

Can you explain here? :)

Well, I knew that the car would be driven to show, thus encountering dust and road grime. I also knew that though I believed that the car should be rewashed upon arrival, this wasn't possible. The best solution in my mind was to provide the customer with a stash of MF towels and explain to them how to carefully QD the car. I told them to use a bucket of water in addition to the QD. Mist QD on surface, wipe with damp towel using no pressure, do small sections flipping the damp towel frequently. Switch to a dry MF for removal, again no pressure. As the towels become soiled, start with a fresh one.

Thanks everyone!!
