Detailing Big cars (SUVs, Vans)

I was curious for the pros that are in business in detailing, how would you go upon detailing the roof/tops of those tall SUV and Vans.... Do you have like a ladder or a stepper to get yourself up there?

I carry around a small step. I'm tall though so you might need something bigger to reach the center of them.

I carry a 4' ladder in my car for larger vehicles.

I’m not a pro detailer, but tomorrow I’m gonna get one of those trick fold up stepladders from Home Depot. It oughta make detailing my Suburban (the Miata Masher) a lot easier!

We use old milk crates. One or two on top of each other works great for us.

I use a 6 foot stepladder. I wrap thebeam (side) of the ladder that will be facin gth ecar with a terry towel just in case I get too close with it. The trick is maintaining one's balance ( I am a firefighter and have climbed our 110 foot E-One aerial to the top at maximum extension many times, so getting up on a 6 footer is a snap! ) while carying a polisher and product. You just have to do a small section at a time. I like to start at the middle and work my way to the edge of the vehicle, then repeat the procedure on the next section I do.
