Detailing Badges and Emblems?

Whats a great tip on how to detail in between these and not leave any trace of residue behind?? and removing previously baked on wax and polish thats stuck around them?

Q-tips work well, I also find spending an extra minute with the edge of your wash mitt during the wash, cleaning very well in between the letters, keeps it from ever getting too nasty.

If there is wax/polish stuck around them, soak in IPA and spend a few minutes with a Q-tip getting them nice and fresh. Luckily I haven't really come across any letters (I can only imagine how fun it would be to polish each letter of "LINCOLN NAVIGATOR" that is spelled out on the back of said car) that were really dull and needed heavy polishing.

Edit: If we are talking about personal vehicles here, just debadge em and you won't have the problem in the first place. :up

In addition to q-tips, I also use foam paint brushes:

actually, yes, I have. These have a much less aggressive foam than others I have tried (with wooden handles). The cell structure is a bit more open than I'd like, but the foam itself is quite soft.

Yeah, I've got a small box of them. Exactly the ones in your picture, actually. They are softer than the softest foam applicator pad. I never thought to use them in detailing. Now I gotta go find that box!
