Detailed the wife's Sequoia......

or, as I like to call it, the rolling Petri dish. Took two days, but I have it looking pretty good. It is solid black, and I now have a question. I used DACP with cutting pad, SFP with polishing pad, NXT (two coats), and topped with #26. When I pulled it out in the sun, on the hood there were some smears that appeard brown on the hood.(Didn't see these anywhere else on the vehicle) I used some quick detailer and a mf and with some elbow grease they came off. I supposed this was left over residue from one of the polishes. When you guys do these details, do you or should you wipe the vehicle down with QD between steps to make sure all the residue is gone? Also, what have you found is the best way to handle the high work. I have to go up on a ladder to do both my vehicles, and I'm always afraid I'll inadvertantly hit the vehicle with the step ladder. Is there a better way?

This is what I use when detailing the tops of SUV's. I got mine from Costco for about $20.

The streaking sounds like it could have been too much NXT or #26, hard to say without seeing it.

If I am working with a polish that dusts a bit I like to use S&W or FI(#34) between steps.

How high is that step stool thing? I've been using an upside down 5g bucket and I still can't see the roof. And I'm 6'1"... :nixweiss

I wonder if they make a taller one.

I'm 6'1" (73") + 20" step = 93"

The truck is 82" high.

Maybe I need some scaffolding. :D

It was prolly the #26 it was the last layer .. if you had streaks from the others the next layer applied most likely would have removed them.
