Since my car has been needing a detail for a very long time, I borrowed all of my friends random orbital gear and did a LOT of paint correction. The car is six years old and has never been detailed. Judging by the swirl marks, the previous owner had used a machine wash more than a few times. Though I knew this was going to be a lot of work, I did not foresee spending 35 hours doing this... :buffing:
The effort was worth the results.
I used all Griot's Garage products. Washed the car with car soap and a bunch of Dawn to strip the old wax, clayed the heck out of it, then hit the entire car multiple with some medium cut polish (some heavy cut on some trouble spots, like the trunk lip area), then finished the entire car with some fine cut polish. Also hit the windshield with some glass polish to try to clear it up some. After that, one layer of Griot's Best of Show was went on, and I let it cure overnight. I plan to put at least four more layers on in the coming weeks.
Hope you enjoy my efforts. I'm am very pleased with the condition of the paint now. I doubt she looked even this shiny new.
I apologize for no before shots. I was strapped for time and needed to get it done as quickly as possible (ironic, I know, considering how long it actually took me.)
