Detailed black Chevy 1500, no pics

Did a black chevy 1500 for owner of large refrigeration reconditioning place. EBI they also build the coolers for the Walmart stores. First it took me 1 1/2 hours just to clean out the truck box, greasy hard gunk. Washed with alco cW37, let it air dry while i went after a couple parts. Started off with PB's Pro Polish with the Udm on 4-5. That was alright till i started buffing the polish off with a NEW DMT, man did the scratces start showing up. I switched to other MF towels I had and it wasnt any better. Took 8 MF towels to buff the polish and 7 to buff the Nattys red. #@%^&*& black paint!!! Never had that problem on any other vehicle, I was NOT happy!!!! Hes taking it to Des Moines tonight to trade it for a new one in TAN. :yay:D I was so tried after that:passout::passout: Chat Night tomorrow night!!!!:yay:yay:yay:dcrules:crazy2:
 
hey Randal ..first how are you feeling? ..second why did you have to work so hard to remove the products? did you use too much? put it on too thick? :confused:
 
probably used to much, truck had Not been waxed ever from what I could tell, 75k farm truck. Never felt bad, just got tired today, the sun didnt stay out and it was only 45 degrees out side, lucky we have heat AND HOT water!!!! Just never had to work so hard or long to get these products off before. couldnt get the Nattys to go on lightly, but it really put a nice finish on it except the damd scratches. luckily the truck had plenty of deep tree rash and gravel chips before I got it.
 
sounds like the temperature could have also been a factor;) It was in the mid 60's here today and I just came back from the 80's in Florida which makes products work much easier:notme:
 
Did you clay the paint first? Just curious because you mention that it had not been waxed ever, so I imagine even after being washed there is probably a great deal of just junk still embedded in the paints surface...maybe that might make it alittle harder to remove...plus the temp, and to much product.
 
Stephan No I did NOT clay as it was going straight to the city to be traded in. Weather around 45-50 here testerday. Lots of humidity from the was and outside. CHAT TONIGHT!!!!
