First up: 1997 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo (Converted to single turbo) Don’t remember specific mods but this puppy is drag ready! Around 750 RWHP and runs low 10’s. Even still has the drag radials on. : ) The paint was in pretty rough shape overall. The back end has been repainted poorly along with some other panels. Took paint measurements and areas were averaging around 100um. Some areas were even reading as low as in the 60’s!! I did what I could but in order to save paint I had to risk perfection. The owner and his girlfriend brought the car over to my house and stayed the entire time to learn some techniques and detailing processes.

Process: (Exterior Only)

Wash and clay.

EC with yellow cut @ 1500 rpms

Menz 106FF with white polish pad @ 1300 rpms

CG’s 53’ Wax by hand.

Owner polished wheels with Flitz and waxed half the car.

This was completed on Friday: Total process took about 8.5 hours.

Sun was pretty much down by the time I finished.

Pics (Keep in mind I couldnt get perfect due to paint thickness)

Really nice work sir. I've done a lot of these and they do have some of the best paint jobs I've ever seen. Just seems like they have some of the worst conditioned surfaces though!

Neglected!

Very very nice detail! Was curious as to how long you have been using the rotary, it seems if I remember right it was not too long ago when you picked it up to use on that orange boat?

Joshua312, I have been using the rotary for 2 years.

Everyone- I had just got done with polishing and wiping the car down when Fedex delivered my Cg's 53' and here is a very brief review.

While waxing it smells like Pina colada! The wax goes on very easy (just as easy as Souveran.) I applied to entire hood them buffed off. The wax removes very easily, I think souveran is a taaaad easier to remove but both very easy to remove in general. What I did notice is when I remove Souveran sometimes there is a little "dusting/powder that is pushed around when removing, 53' did not have this which I liked alot. Some areas that were applied too thick with 53' were actually a "little" harder to remove.

Initial results - upon removal, I viewed the car under garage lights and outside in "sun gonig down" light, so no real chance to see it under the sun. The look I would describe is more of a clear wetness. I only used it once so far and under not so great circumstances so I really dont wont to comment too much. I have to try it out my blue Acura and see it sunlight to get a good idea of how it really compares. The applicators that CG provides with the wax are pretty nice but too big for the can of wax it comes in. I wish all the waxes come with a P21S applicator. I still have and use my P21S applicator which I will wash and use with 53' next time.

Everytime I see your post I automatically read them with the voice of that little creature in your avatar... can't remember his name at the moment.

Car looks awesome!

Again, this supra is had an amazing turn around

sucks you only had ~60ums to play with on certain spots. Hope the owner knew that and didn't think that was our work.

GREAT JOB!!!:shocked

01bluecls- Yeah, that turned out great, nice work!

How do you compare the OE ss and the repaint with b/c (besides the flat surface of the repaint, yeah that guy did a nice job)? I'm usually a sucker for nice ss so I'm curious about your take on the two cars.

Well the repaint on this car was extremely well done, not jus the flat surfaces. Very little to no orange peel, very few if any fish eyes, vitrually no sanding marks or overspray that is commonly seen. Even though it was repainted it was clear coated but no metallic was added. I think a flat non metallic clear coated paint is the MOST DIFFICULT to perfect. The overall shine and look the cc provides to the paint IMO looks better than SS. The current owner had repainted the entire front end in Jan and for some reason the paint was the most EXTREMELY SOFT paint I have come across!!! Wiping away Souveran with my clean relatively new sonus mf's was marring the paint! :( It was also nice not having to spur my pads every panel like I have to with SS finishes.

Another thing in my detailing experience between SS and CC painted vehicles I have noticed... SS like to streak here and there more so than CC. It seems when waxing or polishing the SS likes to "soak up" products but does so in often an uneven way. Now its not terrible noticeable and most wouldnt even see what Im talking about, but I noticed that characteristic over many cars with SS.

Overall I would not want a any vehicle of mine to have SS. They do have a look of their own and looks great in most cases, but IMO CC paint just has more shine and just a tad bi more depth.

Since the owner was there the entire time I showed him the readings and explained how things worked in that type of situation. I rechecked readings and for the most part, my light passes with cut pad and EC only reduced a few ums. He is trying to save some money for an entire repaint hopefully next year.
