DetailCity should be....

SwirlCity, at least for me. I have no idea how it happened, but my heart sank when I saw it. Got home late last night from work, about anhour before the sun set. Step out of the car and look at the hood. I guess the sun or my eyes were at the right angle, but I saw a bunch of swirls. This is my brand new car that I worked on for the first time this weekend. I had washed it last weekend, so I S&W'ed it, then broke out the PC with a white polishing pad and some PP (it has some dealer installed water spots). So I polished it and then put a layer of EX on top (all in the shade, btw). I hadn't really looked at it in the sun until yesterday. I am going to check the other panels to see if they have any swirls. Maybe something got in the pad while doing the hood, I don't know. Think SSR1 with a polishing pad will be enough to get them out? They look very light. I attached a pic of the car (not mine, but same exact model, color, etc.). It is regal blue pearl. I hope I didn't make a mistake buying a dark colored car.

Swrils are a way of life with a dark colored car. I would use SSR1 if you have that with a cuttin pad then followup with a polishing pad with P-w-C and then an EX wait 24 hours and paste wax. This is how I have doen the wifes black BMW for years and its in pretty good shape

That's a 2005 Legacy GT Sedan with optional spoiler.

I bought one just like it in red on August 21st and got rid of it on September 19th. It's a nice car, handles great, and VERY fast. But the seats fit me badly (I'm short) and couldn't be modified. I was forced to get rid of it.

The dark Subies look great using Menzerna FMJ. Nice wet look. Brings out the color well.

Regards,

Dan.

Beemer,
I have all 3 of those PB products. I will give them a try and see what happens. I am waiting on doing a full detail until closer to winter so the EX, etc. will last until the spring.

Woob,
It's the new 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. 250 hp/250 ft-lbs = fun to drive!!!

Dan,
Sorry you had to get rid of yours. Like you said, it is very fast and handles great (for stock suspension). I plan on enjoying it for years to come!!!

ROCKFORD

Also do some clay after the washing that will help to get rid of any crap that might be on there from shipping. I did a 03 white BMW a month ago and the bumpers you could see the rail dust big time.

:bigups Man that looks good! I liked the wagon. To bad you can't mod it, is it because of the engine? How was the MPG? Were the seats to big? I like the power output!

Thats a sharp color , I like it alot. While I was reading your post I was commenting to myself ( nice lookin detail job I don't know why he's complainin) but I later saw the pic wasn't your actually car. Post some pics of your new ride when your all done . :bigups Good luck

Great looking ride Rockford 33! My favorite color! Guess I'm kinda partial to them though, I work for Subaru of Indiana :)

Sorry to hear about your seating problem, Bookem Dano. I have to drive the 5 speeds with the seat slid forward myself.

Glad you like your new Scubie - 33 :angel

Doesnt the commercial say it can out accelerate a Porsche Boxter? I really like the car. NICE.

Yeah, I heard that it can do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. Not too shabby. I just past my 1000 mile break-in period, so I haven't been able to lay into it too much. I am sure this weekend, out on the open highway, I will push it up to redline. It still has a few lingering waterspots on the trunk and hood, so I am going to try and clay and SSR1 those areas. Given the color, what would be poeple's thoughts on products? I was thinking:

Wash
Clay
S&W
SSR1
PwC
EX (x2)
Natty's

Too much? This will be my winter detail, so I want it protected until March. It is possible (weather permitting) that I will be able to add more Natty's over the winter to keep things fresh. Thanks.

Depending on how long that water spot has been there, you might need to go to SSR2 or 2.5 :dunno Pro Polish is also good for water spots as it can remove the mineral deposits causing the spot...
The rest of the regiment looks good for the winter:bigups

heh thats not to hard to do.. now if it out accel'd the boxter S that would be one fast sedan.

Pictures of my ride after Pb's PP and EX x2. Couldn't get everything done yesterday as I had to run out to the store and it was getting dark by the time I got back.

Great job! Your Subaru looks FANTASTIC! :) I know alot of hard work went into it. I wish they looked that good when they rolled off the line. :shift

Take care of your Scoobie.
