Hi There...

I have a Canon 20D and Canon 40D. Both of them have leather like finish on some parts of the body. What product can I use to clean this surface. It is slightly textured and dirt is within the texture. Please keep in mind it's a camera and I don't want what ever product I used get on any of the controls or electronics or optics.
 
I've been having outstanding results on leather with Griots Interior Cleaner. Many Advanced Auto Parts stores are carrying it now. I would think you could hit a mf towel a couple times with and gently wipe it down.
 
Wow, this is a first that I hear of cleaning one's camera with a car care product but here are some I think should work for you:

BLACKFIRE Interior Cleaner

Sonus Leather Cleaner

Pinnacle Leather & Vinyl Cleaner

Detailer's Total Interior Cleaner

And Poorboy’s World Leather Stuff
 
That is just rubber, not leather.... you'll be plenty safe with a little diluted APC and a toothbrush to clean it as long as you have the body cap in place to protect the optics.

Just spray the APC on the toothbrush so you can control how much "liquid" you're dealing with and avoid getting the controls wet to any worrisome degree.

I've cleaned my 60D many times this way and never had a problem. The bodies may not be sealed like some of the more expensive Canons, but they're still pretty tough and can stand up to some abuse.

Actually that is what I decided to try last night. Exactly as you described, spray the toothbrush and I was very carefull to only touch the surface. I kind of thought that it was rubber from the feel. Anyway, they both turned out looking like new. When I was done as a protectant I used some PERL mixed at 5 parts water to 1.
