Black X3 with light to medium swirls. And yes, the paint was rock hard.

process:

Step 1: Menzerna PO85RD3.02 with yellow compounding pads and top tool

Step 2: Menzerna PO106FF and PO106FA with blue polishing/finishing pads

step 3: R-2000 paint cleaner

Step 4: R-2000 paint sealant.

The 3 last pictures is after the full process, the other picture is before and after Menzerna PO85RD3.02.

Porta- Turned out nice! Wish I could find that TOP tool in the US, I think you have a very good unit there. I can't even find the one you use on their Euro website :(

What is a top tool...or is just a European name for some thing else we have...

By the way very nice work...that combo really cleared that paint up....

I will be stocking up on Menzerna this spring..I have 420 Euros to spend ..so I will place a order with the company in Ireland..need to spend them so this is the best way I can see..

Thanks guys :)

Top tool is like a slightly larger Cyclo with 5,25" pads, a 1200w Flex enginge and adjustable rpm.

AL-53: Sounds like a good idea, get the RD3.02 and PO106FF/FA or RE5. Are you ordering from Daragh? He´s a nice guy, say hello from me :)

Seems like a *great* piece of equipment, just wish I could find one. I was surprised that I couldn't find it on Flex's website :nixweiss

It´s superb. You won´t find it on the Flex website, beacuse it´s handmade in Sweden. He buys the engine from Flex and makes the other parts himself and put it together to a great machine.

It´s very expensive. ~ €700 wich is like $1000.(A Cyclo costs~$600 in Sweden)

But I have never regeret that I bought this piece of machine.

Porta- Ah, OK, thanks for elaborating about the machine. I didn't realize that they are basically one-ff/custom made. Heh heh, I could almost talk myself into one...how does a person go about purchasing it?

It sells online,my friend is a vendor for this machine, pads and Menzerna :)

I can give you a nice price ;)

I love the Flex rotaries, I have the smallest one, the L3403VRG very light only 1.9kg(~4lbs)

There you see both the top tool and the rotary.

How does the power of the Flex compare to the Cyclo?

Excellent job on the swirl removal! Even though they weren't too bad, that rock hard metallic black paint of BMW is still tough to de-swirl.

ScottWax- Perhaps you and I are thinking along the same lines ;) If the Top Tool can effect the sort of correction that's just beyond the Cyclo's ability, it might make for a truly viable rotary alternative. And the similarity between it and the Cyclo is appealing, huh?

Porta- The Top Tool takes 5.5" pads, right? I'd have to find a US supplier for them, but IIRC somebody has been posting about them recently (and quite favorably).

Oh man...I need another polisher, let alone such an expensive one, like I need a hole in the head but I'm still tempted..*IF* it can do the sort of correction that currently requires me to use the rotaries (which I just do *not* enjoy using for some reason).

I have been using a Cyclo before but I sold it when I bought the top tool.

The big differences between the top tool and the Cyclo is the power. Cyclo have a engine with 220watts and the Top tool have 1200watts. Go figure :)

So its a slightly bigger machine then the Cyclo but the engine have much more power, this will not bog down during preassure(IE the pads will take the beating if you push it to hard) Honestly I don´t use my rotary so much now these days.

The left side of the X3 took me not more then 30mins to correct. Wich is very fast on a car with this kind of paint. The funny thing is that the pads I am using is very coarse, but they finished out very nice on this kinds of paints(hard ones).

I am using pads that are 130mm to wich is roughly 5,25" so I am going to buy the LC CSS pads from Danase.com wich are 5,25" :D I am going for the green, orange and blue.

Going to the US this spring, should I bring one? ;)

Porta...That Top Tool is pretty wild...Just curious as to what they cost...I can see some uses for that tool other than paint correction also...would be great for wood refinishing ..

that tool looks like a beast..I am impressed....may dip into my rainy day money for that
