Deep scratch removal

I mostly removed a deep scratch from a Mazda6 yesterday. I started off using Menzerna Power Gloss on a wool pad, using a rotary. I realized this was not going to be aggressive enough, so I did some brief wetsanding with 1200 grit paper. I then went back to the PG to remove the sanding scratches. I then followed with Optimum's polish on a wool pad via rotary. I sealed with OCW. Here are some before and after pics.

That's a good fix :xyxthumbs

I take it this was on a customer's car. I have some RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches) on our silver Mazda MPV but I'm just leaving them alone as I don't want to thin the clear that much.

1200 paper gives me the willies; I work longer with 2.5-3K when I do stuff like this, but as you can tell, I'm awfully conservative about such things. Sure are a lot of people doing good work with OCP these days....

Man wet sanding scares the begezus out of me. Nice work though, I wish I had the guts to do it, would prolly bring me a lot more business

It seems to be that wet sanding is really risky, especailly on someone else's car. Do you have body shop experience? Have you done this before? and do you have insurance if you screw the job up?

The car belongs to my dad. He was a little nervous about the sanding, but everything turned out OK. I have wetsanded before. I removed some painted pinstripes from a Harley Davidson. I wish I had taken pics of that job.

i wet sanded some scratches on my car - the area hazed like a burn I polised it out - unoticeable however after a couple weeks i could see the roughness again
