Decal/Polishing Question

I have this decal on my hood.

Would you guys recommend just polishing around it, polishing over it or taping it up just to be on the safe side?



if I do use tape, will low tack painters tape be ok? I am sort of paranoid about taping it up then having the tape pull off some of the actual decal...

It is a "factory applied" decal, correct?

You talk of "polishing", are you going to use a rotary, a DA or by hand?

With a DA or by hand, just polish right on over it, won't hurt it one bit unless you are using a harsh compound and "bear" down on it.

Use a soft bristle brush after polishing to remove any residue from around and in the letters.

I agree with Grumpy, but if you do decide to tape over it, I have used the blue painters tape on all types of decals and never had a problem with it lifting them.
