Debadged and Detailed the company car - 2007 Sebring

Just had the chance to resize, border, and post up these shots, but this detail and debadge session is about 2 weeks old. I got this car in December and I already have 11k on the clock ;). I drive this car about 700 miles per week and consequently, it sees some road abuse. It's been washed by 3 machines (1 in dealer prep, 2 after oil changes) and until now I only had a layer of Clear Seal on it (3 months old, beading well :) ---in the badged pic). The car needed some claying on the nose and lower panels and some swirls had accumulated. Being that I use it so often, I wasn't going for perfection, but I wanted to make it more presentable (to me---everyone else thinks I'm crazy). To date, I have removed the front plate, tinted it (35%), and debadged the "SEBRING" from the tail.

To debadge the letters, I heated them up briefly with a hair dryer, then used fishing line to pull off. Following, I used AutoGlym's Intensive Tar Remover to loosen the adhesive, then a plastic razorblade to complete the deed. I polished out the trunk 3 times with 106FF to insure any scuffs and marrs were removed.

My finals on the detail were:

-Z7 Wash

-Z18 Clay with Z7 as lube

-Menzerna PO106FF via rotary and LC CCS White Polishing Pad @ 1300 rpm

-IPA wipedown

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd) x 2 (on paint, glass, trim)

-Zaino CS x 1 (on wheels)

-Zaino Z16 x 2 (on tires)

-CG VRT cut 2.5:1 in wells

I'm prepping Liz's Saab for sale tomorrow, so expect some more pics then.

Cheers!

great job Sean! Now your styling in your company car! Now everyone is gonna want there company car done. Now atleast you know what car is yours! The black extremely shiny one!:lol

Love these when they are polished, these cars are used by armed forces personnel here in Canada and generals usually pull up in these chaffeured black or navy blue Sebrings.

WOW, looks so much better minus the huge lettering.

How do you like the car overall? It looks like a very nice product.

Car looks great, I'm late on the new job topic but hope you enjoy both the car and job. Take care.

what did you use to get the badges off? If I bought my car almost a year ago is it too late to try and take off the badges?

Thanks folks :).

whitejava: New job is great, couldn't be happier.

rydawg: Yet to find someone as nuts as me to treat their company car like this...Oh well :).

tom: It's a solid car. Very comfortable at highway speeds and around town. Interior is a bit chintzy, but I've had positive compliments on it before (personal preference thing). The only area I honeslty feel it lacking is the power. It's got the base 4 in it which has negative torque. I have to punch it everytime I get on the highway. It does, however, get great mileage. My soon-to-be in-laws, fiancee, and I went to a wedding in Erie, PA last weekend (500 miles each way). Full trunk, 4 adults, and 1/2 tank or more at all times cruising between 75-90, we averaged 29 mpg...Not half bad ;).

The higher model with the 6, big wheels, foglights, nav, etc is a really nice offering from Chrysler IMO. I get compliments all the time in this car. It's very rare in this area (I've seen 4 in 6 months with it). Being that it's tinted and is debadged now, I get more attention, and a lot of questions.

Andrew: No CeramiClear on this one :(, only the premium models. My dad's 300C does have CeramiClear, it's great.

Chris: You know me, can't leave it alone :). I was going to put yellow highbeams (also DRLs) in, but I think that would be a little too much attention. What the car REALLY needs, is a 50-shot.

I agree with the other guys. Debadging the car looks much cleaner. First thing I did to my car when I first bought it. Same exact way.

Bryan

Car looks awesome Sean. I am sure its the best looking one in your work fleet. Don't keep it to clean. They might not replace it. :grinno:
