Dear Lance Armstrong

Just One More Coat
They can write, say or believe what they want about you. You brought pro-bicycling awareness to the US that has spawned a multimillion dollar industry, there should be many lined up to thank you for that. US pro-bicycling is no longer the red hared step child of the sports world, it once was.

We sponsor some of the worlds largest pro races on and off the road here on US soil because of you. Are they pissed off because you where the most tested athletics in ALL professional sports, but never tested positive. Did you beat their testing system and that's why they are coming after you?

Personally I don't care and there are many like me, what little they try and accuse you of, is overshadowed by what you have brought to avid cyclist and countless riders like me world wide, THANKS.

Oh and one last thing, that little organizations you formed to help fight and bring awareness to cancer, that has / is saving thousands of lives, while giving millions of dollars to research for a cure, let me thank you for that one as well. LIVESTRONG!

Total BS what they're doing to him. I've yet to see what proof they supposedly have. He is completely within his rights to not want to continue trying to defend himself because they will prosecute him until they get the result they want, guilty.

Also, what right does the US organization have to remove his medals from a race in France? I don't think they can/should be able to. Yet another US organization trying to bully others into doing what they want. It's a shame.

They can't and reason they won't be able to. UCI has a governing body in every country that has pro racing in it. Everyone of those has to sign off on stripping his wins, that's not going to happen

Barry Bonds is the one who really got screwed

Who was the athlete that got caught, admitted to it and continued on with his career :thinking I think he played for the Yankees :inspector:

The thing with Berry Bonds is he was a great ball player without doing anything. He was probably one of the best all around players during his career.

Lance Armstrong has always had to deal with these accusations. I don't know if there is any truth to them but we haven't seen any proof. I wish he would keep fighting. Even if they have proof that he used at least then there wouldn't be a question.

My understanding is the physical evidence fails to show anything. All they have is the statements of other cyclists who have been busted now coming forward saying Lance did it too. Probably under pressure to cut a deal to reduce their penalties. Why is it that heroes are guilty until proven innocent and terrorists are entitled to a fair trial?

Completely agree!

Did you see the quote from the federal judge who threw out Armstrong's suit to try and block the UCI's case: "USADA's conduct raises serious questions about whether its real interest in charging Armstrong is to combat doping, or if it is acting according to less noble motives," such as politics or publicity..."

I don't think Armstrong would have won either way.

My old neighbor used to road race competitively and he's the one that introduced me to Lance Armstrong and road racing way back when he first won. I don't ride but it was fun to watch and follow just like various forms of automotive racing.

So shocked at all of this. If there was any athlete that I admired and looked up to it was Lance. I read all his books. He was truly an inspiration for the sport.

As far as I am concerned they can fly a kite. They tested you every way they could, anywhere they wanted to and any time they wanted to and came up empty handed. It was a witch hunt from the beginning. I commend you for what you did yesterday. I think they were trying to insure themselves of job stability.
I just hope the WTC, the World Triathlon Corp. doesn't drink their cool-aid and will allow you to pursue your quest to race Ironman. You were well on your way to making a great appearance in Kona this October.
Fred Millard 5 time Ironman

Unfortunately we live in a society where those who are great at what they do "must be cheating". The accusations usually come from those who can't consistently compete and are beat. You see it mostly here in our own country.

The French are just pissed off that an American won their tour 7 times. Lance is simply a natural. He's overcome adversities that most couldn't and because of his dedication and inner drive he was victorious....

I've never seen a more deliberate witch-hunt....Enough is enough Lance, you won and they lost....:bigups

LIVESTRONG......:yourrock

There were actually two players. First Jason Giambi and then Alex Rodriguez. PED's are here to stay. The labs just get smarter and make undetectable steroids until they get banned. ASnd then they come up with something better and more undetectable.

Don

Lance is something of a home town boy; came from just up the road and I have shopped at "his" bike shop countless times over the years. I have rooted for him throughout his career. I'm happy for his accomplishments. I think the USADA's actions have been over the top. BUT! I am not so naive to believe that he is innocent the charges levied against him. As a "natural" it is highly unlikely that he could win against those other cyclists who were admittedly doping.

I heard a brief mention of how the USADA has come to their conclusions (something about "blood profiling" -- I might not have that exactly correct as I did not get to hear the entire interview) and it sounded as though they have him with some solid evidence. I am not a hard core bicycle racing fan, but from what I see it is one of the dirtiest sports out there.

I don't know what the USADA will accomplish by stripping Lance of his Tour wins. Will the Tour de France recognize those sanctions and remove his name from the record books? Who would be named the winner? Many of those riders who finished behind Lance were found guilty of doping. Those sanctions seem somewhat pointless. However, this process is a good thing if it tells future generations of riders that you will get caught if you cheat. Maybe these actions will once again level the playing field for those who want to compete cleanly and fairly.

Lance is a great athlete but I wish he would defend the charges if he truly believes his is innocent. It is not his nature to give up. This way the evidence will be shown and some of the witnesses would likely be known.
