Dealing with CC Failure

Well, after being enlightened in an earlier thread that the hazing on my hood is actually CC failure. I was wondering if I should treat it any differently with the PC or if I should pass over it all together. Before I went over it with the PC the first time, it really wasn't noticeable, but after doing so, it's much more visible.

Spoiledman had suggested gobbing paste wax on it often, but it really didn't seem to help at all. Right now I'm scared that if I go over it with the PC that it'll make the problem even worse.

Anyways, here's a pic of it for reference

Thanks. :(

That is a large area of clearcoat faiuler you have, and if you contunue to PC it the area will get larger as as I bet the surrounding area where there is clearcoat is still very thin on the ground. PCing the "dead" area further will do no good at all, the paint here is a gone I'm afraid and you'd then be at removing the colour layer which is much thinner than the clearcoat was.

Also, not the colour layer has no clearcoat, it will fade much much faster without any protection there. So make sure its atleast protected with a good layer of wax.

But in honesty, my plan for that hood would be to take it to the bodyshop and get it resprayed.

:sigh: Thanks Dave. Yea, I know respraying's my only option, but I'm scrounging money just to figure out what's wrong with my idle and stumbling issues.

So I take it I should just skip over the area when I polish? And would anybody have an idea on how much it'd cost for a good hood respray?

Yes mate, skip over that area - I would personally mask around it. By all means put a non-abrasive selaent or wax over it to help protect until the repray comes.

Afraid I cannot help you with prices, as I'm UK based so no idea about prices in the USA, but I'm sure someone will chime in to help you soon.
