Okay so I detail cars for BMW...and learn everything from my boss.

Unfortunately we use the same clay over and over again, walmart microfibers, etc....

I have a pretty nice car, an s14 Kouki and also wanting to do side business, but in a legit way.

1.So far a basic detail at work is wash with pressure washer, some soap, clay with detail spray, dry, and then Permaplate.

2.I have started to notice that if i use the pressure washer on my OWN car, its stripped off parts of paint...should i go back to using a hose?

3.How often can i apply permaplate on my car?(Something with stripping of clearcoat, etc)

4.are terry towels better then microfiber?

5.I get compliments from others that my car is Clean, but under the light in my garage i can still see flaws....u autopians have MIRROR like finishes with hardly any swirls...but ill be able to see swirls on mine and get sad cuz im doing something wrong....

6.I have access and time to keep my car clean every week if i wanted to and was wondering what I can do maximum every week without weaking clearcoat, wax, and etc.

7.Basically I want to completely detail exterior of my car where i can be satisfied...plenty of the cars i do at dealerships are easy....but mines hard...

There's only 1 of 2 reasons you're damaging your car with a pressure washer

1 - improper washer/washer utilities. GPM is important, PSI (in terms of strength) not so much. Unless you're using something silly like 3000psi, or the wrong nozzel (anything but the 45(?or is it 65, i forget?)), it won't strip off paint

2 - you have serious paint issues to begin with

What's this Permaplate?

U dont seem to mention any polishes or a dual action buffer or a rotary.

It will be very difficult & time consuming to get a swirl free finish if u dont use some type of buffer and a basic polish followed by a finishing polish.

U need to read alot more of these Autopia threads.

God Luck.
