dealer wash problems

I am new to detailing in general and currently drive a 6 series BMW.
Around a month ago i completely detailed my car.I clayed then used scratch X followed by 2 coats of NXT.The results were amazing .The durability of the NXT was very disapointing and the bead effect was gone after 2 weeks. My local dealer recalled my car for a small repair and i told them not to wash my car,but they did and to my horror the car was returned to me and parked in direct sunlight for me to see swirl marks everywhere. Can anyone tell me the best way to get them away and also what would be the best way to protect the paint and provide the best durability? The car is silver grey

your going to want to polish the paint. Without a buffer it isnt quite as easy.
You do something like this. You will start off with a polish and work your way down. You always want to start with the least abrasive product first. The glaze will fill in some minor blemishes. For durability a sealent toped with a carnauba will do pretty good. I will let others chime in from here.

Wash
Clay
Wash
Med Polish
Light Polish
(glaze optional)
Sealent or Wax

I agree with Greg but since you just clayed I would not think that was needed again in such a short period, it won't hurt it.

For the polish or to remove swrils I like the Poorboys SSR lineup for this, its a real users freindly product. I would say that the SSR1 would do since your car is brand new, Im guessing (jealous)

Then the polish with carnauba which will bring back great luster and also has some filler to mask some of the swrils. My cars are garage queens so I stop here most of the time, but you can top with either a sealant / wax or both.

If you can post some pics would love to see the lines on your car they have a real sex appeal!

First off I would like to say you made a great choice for a car, beautiful car with some sport appeal too. Now, as Beemerboy said, pics would be helpful but even without I can speculate. Your best bet would be to pick up some products that will last you a long time in keeping your car in prestine condition, which you already have the desire to do. A PC, Porter Cable 7336 (Lowes), would be a good idea if you plan to keep the car in mint condition for as long as you own it. Then order the following from one of our sponsors: either SSR2 and SSR1 or Menzerna IP, FP II; and a glaze like VM. Then you'll be ready for a sealant, my favorites are Menzerna FMJ and Poorboys EX; the EX gives a more warm deeper look while FMJ is much more reflective. For added depth top with a carnauba like S100 or Souveran if you want to get really deep. If you decide to go the PC route you'll need a backing plate and some pads to start also. After that just get some quality MFs to keep your car in great shape and maybe some leather conditioner for the interior. The initial investment may seem like alot but these products will last you forever if they are only going to be used on one car. Plus you did buy a 6 Series, I doubt an extra couple hundred dollars is going to break you :rofl

I feel your pain...Ive been down the same road....

But there is hope...Here's my gift from the dealer and how it turned out...

That was my first use of the PC. Take your time, listen to the great advice you can get here, and you will be very very pleased. The Pooboys Products are very user friendly, and the owner Steve can offer some great help if you need it. I would suggest:

Wash
SSR 2.5
SSR 1
EX- P+

You can remove the swirls completely, and the EX-P+ will outlast and outshine the NXT by a huge margin. If you feel too intimidated, you could probably locate a detailer through this board that could have you smiling again for about the same cost as buying all the supplies.

Good luck, if you need advice, help or encouragment, just stop in....

And post some pics of that beautiful car when you are done!

My same post......... in a different thread:

I have a lot of people tell me of this same issue. Here's what I do and what I tell others to do..........

Take a 2' x 2' piece of cardboard (or something like that) and take a black marker and write "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR". When you get to the dealer, place it on your vehicles dash with your service writer present.......... he won't forget.

They may snicker or laugh about you behind your back......... but I bet they won't wash your car. If they do, ask them if they have a problem "READING or UNDERSTANING ENGLISH"!
