Dealer molested 370Z, Toyota Venza, Grand Cherokee SRT8

2011 Nissan 370Z, leftover 2011 model the owner bought recently. He purchased the car at night, wasn't until the next day he noticed all the swirls. Dealership tells him that's normal for a new car, he replies he has purchased several new cars and they didn't have swirls already in them. He has given them several opportunities to get the car right, either they aren't doing anything at all or don't have the first clue how to fix it. They "generously" offered him $120 to cover having someone else detail it. :wall

I looked at it a few weeks ago, we set up an appointment for this weekend to take care of it. In the full on sun in the late morning, it looked a lot more swirled than it had looking at it in the early evening with the sun a lot lower in the sky. We talked about a full on correction when we talked a few weeks back but decided for now the best course of action would be to remove the buffer swirls and as much of the spider swirling as possible, then evaluate how the car looks this fall. If the owner is able to keep the paint in good shape it might then be worth going with the rotary and getting it as close to perfect as possible. But for now, given the sad shape it was in and the less than generous offer on behalf of the dealership, using a DA was the most cost effective way to bring the finish back.

After an ONR wash and Opti-Raser clay sponge:

I started compounding at around 10:30 am, by the time I finished that and both polishing steps it was after 2 pm so the shots aren't always exactly the same angle thanks to the pesky sun moving across the sky.

Compounded with Meguiars #105 using a Meguiars microfiber cutting disc and my PC 7424 XP on speed 5:

2011 Toyota Venza. Semi-regular customer who has me take care of his mom's vehicle on occasion. All things considered, it was in pretty good shape for a jet black Toyota with 20k miles on it. Plus Optimum Hyper Polish and the Optimum microfiber polishing pads are magical on black Toyota paint. For some reason, it really cuts the paint well without any marring. Almost seems to have a compounding effect.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Owner just purchased this vehicle to replace the BMW X6 you can see in the garage (which we also detailed but I've posted it several times before, just an end of lease clean-up, nothing fancy) and he wanted us to go over his new toy, no effort spared. The dealer hadn't done anything to it so the paint was really in excellent shape other than the sap all over the horizontal panels.

Scott, you mean the owner didn't request the DISO package? Ohh the horror!! Looks like they threw in the blazing buffer trails of fail for free too! I bet the owner was ecstatic once you were finished with it.

The Toyota and Jeep look equally sexy dressed in their best BLACK!

Awesome job....as always.

Nice job Scott. i am offended by the title including the words molested.

My wife and I volunteer at a local shelter. Some of the families are here because of real issues, such as molestation. I would ask that you use some more discretion in your choice of words in the future. You really should be more mature about your choice of words. Thanks.

From Webster--Primary meaning of Molest--": to annoy, disturb, or persecute especially with hostile intent or injurious effect" so Scott's use of the word is entirely appropriate.

Amazing job Scott (as usual)!!!!

Wow, great job using the dictionary. I am sure your definition from the dictionary means a lot to victims of abuse. I stand by my comments as listed above. The choice of words was inappropriate.

Scott, Z looks pretty dam good for just a minor detail! Love the wet look of the HD.

Thanks, really like Poxy too. Really close to a carnauba look on solid colors.

I love the new JGCSRT8s

Thanks! What really amazed me was how nice the interiors are on the new ones. Its a night and day difference. Fiat has really helped Dodge turn things around.

Sorry but I think you are being a bit over-sensitive about this. I could understand if I used the word "rape" but I believe I used the word "molest" correctly in this case. But props to working with a family shelter.

I very rarely post, but I do read a lot. Had to respond to this. Totally ridiculous statement. Kudos to you for your service to the community, but words are just words. Any statement that the use of the word "molest", which is a word that has a definition and applicable meaning in this case, somehow is an insult to people that have been sexually molested is simply preposterous. Whats next? Can we not use the word "abused"? Crazy.

Great work as always Scott. What did you think of the Jeep? We just got one (not an SRT8, just an ordinary GC)...
