Dealer hammered G37S

I got a call from a customer whose G35 coupe I detailed a couple years ago. He'd recently purchased a black G37S 6 speed and wasn't pleased at all about the "detail" done by the dealer. They offered to fix it but he wisely declined. I have another customer who has a black M45 the same dealer tore up with a rotary so I had a basic idea what to expect...and they were exceeded. Sadly.

After an ONR wash and Clay Magic blue clay

I wasn't even going to bother with microfiber pads on this one, I went straight to an American Buffing white foamed wool pad using my PC 7424 XP and Meguiars #105 on speed 5. Removed the buffer swirls quickly but did haze up the paint quite a bit.

I followed with Meguiars D300 and an Optimum microfiber cutting pad on my PC on speed 5-6. I had to go over the hood and trunk twice with this combination. You can see some hazing still in the hood shot, which is why I had to go over it a second time.

The next step was Meguiars #205 using a Meguiars yellow foam polishing pad at speed 5 on my PC, followed by another ONR wash to remove the dust.

Pretty clear now in the shade-the paint was so bad initially I could see the hazing with the car in the shade.

The paint was sealed with Optimum Opti-Seal and tires/fenderwells dressed with Armor All. Hard to get full sun on the paint in these final shots, it was about 7 pm when I finished.

This one really rustled my jimmies.

Not really sure what this expression means, but it sends my mind to a dark place....:soscared:

Amazing turnaroud Scott, that's one of the most hacked cars I've seen in a while!

Still amazed that people who have had there car Detailed by a professional "Detailer" would allow the dealership to even touch there vehicle!!! But it happens over and over again! I understand if you don't care about your vehicles looks, but if you seek out a "Pro" you do care! I watched a porter the other day at one of our "High End" dealerships reach into a trash can and get out an old wool pad to buff adhesive off a 458! After a few minutes and ALLOT of Holograms the adhesive still there he grabbed ScotchBrite and begin to rub it off! I couldn't watch anymore! Scott, you guy's are making it look easy! Any of the Infiniti's I've ever worked on result in multiple steps just to do a proper clean-up! But as you showed us when done properly, it looks like a mirror! Yesterday being 105* makes for another obstacle besides the car!

It can mean anything you want it to mean! :lol

One of the most hacked cars I've seen too. The owner has sent the pictures along to the dealership. Here is the initial response:

XXXXX,

Good to hear from you! I have forwarded this to my Collision Center Manager, Kevin XXXXXX. I appreciate you taking the time to send this to me. I will be meeting with him soon concerning this and will be in touch. Thank you.

He didn't have them detail it, they did it when it was traded in. He bought it on a cloudy day this spring, didn't notice it until a few days later. They did take care of the hail damage as promised.

Temps yesterday really weren't bad, humidity was low and the customer had a carport I could work under. :)

every time i open a scottwax thread im amazed, in a good way.

Thanks!

Mmmmmm.... so pretty when done!

Is that the Malbec Black or Obsidian? That would look killer on a custom classic hot rod. Appears to have a deep purple glow when in direct sunlight?

Not sure what the color was called, look jet black to me. Shooting pics when the sun gets low in the sky really makes the paint look sick!
