dealer applied polymer coating...help

my buddy just bought a new eclipse, and they got him for the 500.00 polymer paint sealant.....he wants to Zaino his car, so we need to get it off. i went to CMA, and they didnte mention the dealer applied coats, but just said to use a paint cleaner and clay....any suggestions? I know Zaino has nothing that strong to get rid of it right?
 
You could also try a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and distilled water to strip it along with a cleaner/polish.





Your friend paid $500 for that?
 
Just to help along my n00biness, what is polymer coating. Why is it bad/good and what is it's purpose (other than to maximize profits).
 
There is nothing wrong with a sealent. Klasse and Zanio are great examples of such products, but they dont cost $500.

yep, that much, but for a limited time it also came with undercarriage coating, as well as wheel wells, AND stain guard on the interior as well!!!!!:o

Anyway, your safe, just take the normal routines for stripping waxes....Dawn wash, clay, paint cleanse.....your in business....

Polymers offer the greatest amount of protection available, and are par with the top of line carnaubas available for visual stimulation...Personaly, I think BF brings out better clarity than all the others, just my .02....(but it has that dust drawback), course a simple layer of even cheap carnauba would cure that.....
 
why not Z on top of it. It'll just add to the protection. It's a very hard polymer and Z (I bet) would be able to bond to it (most of them say you can wax on top of them).



Besides, if the coating thickness of this stuff is thick, it should give you an excellent preventative barrier.
