I've had my 350Z for a while now. I got it in Sept of 2002. I just recently was introduced to the wonders of a PC. So here were the steps I used. Yep, my car was the first to see the likes of the PC, however it went fairly smoothly once I got a pair of 500W halogens to see my progress.

Washed with Dawn

Clayed with Mothers Clay

Cut with the PC and Optimum Compound with yellow cut propel pad

Polished with green propel pad and Optimum Polish

IPA wipedown

Zaino Z2Pro X 4 with Z1 polish Lok (I did a seperate coat of Z2Pro every 24 hours for the first few days using Z6 inbetween coats.)

Tires got Meguiars High Endurance tire gel.

This was a nighttime shot taken a few days ago.

Here is a nice shot that really captures just how optically clear and reflective Zaino Z2Pro really is!

yellow pad is pretty rough was that really needed? my buddy has this same color car and I've been thinking about cleaning it up but i'm not comfortable using that pad on his car that I can't afford :)

Beautiful Z!! Great job with the detail.

We are looking to get my wife a DB Z sometime in the future. Can't decide on a hardtop or vert though...:D Actually we're trying to decide between that or something like the new Eclipse Spyder.

I wouldnt go with the eclipse. If mitsus sales do not increase after next year, they are leaving the US market.

Nice Z there, and great job! :)

Really? Hadn't heard that. Thx for the info, as that certainly wouldn't be a good thing after potentially considering buying one of their new cars.

Tis a beautiful car.

For future reference, take that dual 1000 watt halogen stand and take some before and afters with direct light shinning on the paint, as even swirled-up cars can look good in pictures if you don't have a direct light source on them.

And per DMX...' comments, the yellow pad is in fact an awfully aggresive pad relative to the compound you used...the orange pad is probably a better pairing. If you need to get more aggressive, DACP or OHC will be your best bet then.

Happy polishing.

First and foremost, thanks for all the compliments, this is an excellent forum to get answers and show your details to get help from others ect.

dmxsoulja3 & RAG,

Your probably right, I should have gone with the orange propel pad and OC instead of the most agressive pad and OC. In my arsenal of polishes I have OP, OC and OHC as well as 3M Swirl mark remover for dark colored cars.

dezigns, yes indeed that VQ is a wonderful engine. I've done a couple small things to bring the HP up from stock 287 to just over 300hp.

Rag, I do have a couple shots of my hood before and after. However these shots were taken before I had my dual halogen lights. Here they are below is BEFORE:

And the AFTER:

I'm also going to try and get some pics in direct sunlight. It's been raining down here in Louisiana every day for the past month so kinda hard to get a good clean car pic with the sun out.

budman3, the towel in that pic is my favorite MF towel from Patrick the Excel Elite Polishing Towel 16x24.

looks similar to my friends impulse blue 06 gto
