Finally got a go at it with my new PC. Heres what I did and the swirls are lessen to point that the car shows it real red color, but they are still visible at an angle. I will try to have a go at it again next week, what should I try this time ? #80 with yellow pad or #82 with yellow ?. I also have a bottle of 3M Perfect-IT III Rubbing Compound 05933. should I use that instead ? I will post pics, but it was too dark when I finished.

1. Wash with Blue Coral High Foam

2. Polish 2X with #82 with white 7" flat LC pad at 4.5 setting

3. NXT with 7" flat LC grey pad at 3.5 setting

For the pure polishing steps maybe try the PI III RC with yellow cutting pad ( may take a few full passes)On occasion it may be necessary to go up to 6. ( Audi clear often requires it for stuff you can only see under halogens! ) follow with the 80 with a polishing pad, this sounds like it's going to be many hours of work. Hope it turns out better :up

What Bill D said, although I'd probably follow the 05933/cutting with a little 05933/polishing before moving to the #80/polishing. And even the 05933 might be sorta mild for your marring, so do be prepared to work at it for a while. After the #80 you can quite probably go on to the NXT without needing the #82. I'd just do one panel and see how it goes since the rest of the vehicle will still be protected by the NXT from your previous effort.

In regards to hand swirl removal, what percentage can you actually remove and how many passes

At present I've got PB 2.5 and meg's pro SMR but hope to get PB 1 sometime soon. In future I will do PB 2.5 and follow with PB 1 or megs

My latest car, an AUG 98 which was not protected but washed regularly and garaged had less than average swirls but still more than I like and I managed to reduce them to only being seen by lights. I want it 100% swirl free.

SVR in order for it to get to or at least get very close to 100% swirl free you're going to have to have a PC/Cyclo. I find anything by hand that resembles it often is just covering up the defects temporarily.

The products you have should do the job you want with the machine.

Ok, heres the pics I promised, can't see any of the swirls, but they are there very very faint. I took the pics at all places then at a carwash for charity I had today !
