DACP cause haze please help!

1st time ever using DACP today, used with PC/CMA yellow pad on 3 to work it in paint, then moved up to 6 . Worked it from right to left then up & down. I can see some hazing on some parts of the car, tried using Z-6 DQ to try and remove the hazing with some luck.



Did I do something wrong ?

You should not get haze as long as you work it in long enough. With a PC, I would set it for #5 and leave it there the whole time. You are looking at probably 3-4 minutes per 2'X2' area before it breaks down enough. (Make sure that you are using only a clean pad; one product per pad) DACP should be broke down so as only a light dust/residue is left to wipe off.



Afterwards, use a CLEAN Polishing pad and a product like Meguiar's # 82 Swirl Free Polish and go over it again. This time do NOT work it until it is dry. You must keep a wet edge. Then wipe it off. You may need to repeat this step a couple of times per panel.

I had PC on 6, and did let it break down to almost nothing, still I got spots with some hazing. I went over it again and thing look better now. I dont have Meg # 82 what about 3M IHG, would that work ?

I do not believe that 3M IHG has enough if any cleaners in it to do the job. It is a glaze. What you need is a swirl removal product. Like I said, you could use Meguiar's #82, or Meg's #9 or 3M Swirl Mark Remover etc... . The 3M IHG will just cover up the marks and not get rid of them.
 
Others have reported hazing with DACP, but I get the impression that most do not see any. It's not a problem. Hazing is caused by moderate or higher abrasives leaving the paint a little rough in spots. It's usually easily removed by following up with a milder abrasive. The theory is, as I've seen it explained here, that DACP has diminishing abrasives, so the more you work it in, the finer the abrasives become until you get a shiny, haze-free finish.



The mild abrasives in Meg's #9 and 3M SMR will probably take care of your hazing without breaking a sweat. But they also have oils and fillers that can hide things. I usually follow DACP with Menzerna Final Polish even though DACP has never given me hazing (at least that I could see). It leaves nothing behind to hide swirls or hazing. I only reach for the SMR when I know I've got something to hide.

Your right, you can't really see the haze unless u use a halogen light, and your right again on the milder abrasive. I used meg # 9, liked 2hotford suggested and that did the trick.

Ditto. :xyxthumbs I still need more PC hours, but with a cutting pad I was still getting a very mild haze on a black car too.



I wouldn't sweat it too much and just use a swirl remover on it. In my case the hazing was light enough that a glaze actually wiped it out entirely, but that's a :nono at Autopia heheh. :D
