DA foam pads: My GG6 is eating them

At least the ones I've been using, which are HF ones. The problem lies in where the velcro backing ends on the pad. Since the velcro doesn't mate to the entire surface of the backing plate, the exposed foam to the backing plate is getting chewed up, and thrown over the vehicle.



Is this a technique issue, or just a cheap pad issue?

It's normal. I get the same when I use the exact fit backing plate.

Are you using the backing plate that comes with the GG6? I'd suggest changing backing plates.



I like this one for all of my MF pads since the velcro goes to the edge:

Meguiar's 6" DA Backing Plate



Or, If I'm using Meg's old-style 6.5" pads, I like this one because the backing plate goes out to the edge, but the velcro doesn't extend past the backing on the foam pad:

Get a 5'' backing plate to use w/ the HF pads and you'll no longer chew them up.

There have been quite a few reports about the HF pads falling apart for different reasons. Why not just make the jump to a 5" backing plate and some quality pads.
