Cyclo vs. PC-7424 and Metabo SXE-400

Hey all,

My old PC just bit the dust and I'm looking at something new. I'm trying to decide if i should stick with a PC7424 and pick up a Metabo SXE-400 3" buffer for smaller areas like the front bumper of my M3. Or, should I go for the Cyclo? Is it easy to maneuver around smaller areas and such?

Personally, I would just get another PC and add the Metabo SXE400 to your detailing kit. The 3" Metabo is very compact and gets into hard to reach areas better than a Cyclo. And besides, the Cyclo costs as much as both polishers together or maybe just a few $$ more.

I purchased my Metabo SXE400 @ Discount woodworking, power tools, and trade tools at Tools Plus for $115. Griots Garage carrys the 3" wax, polish and metal pads for $12 per pack of 3.

I assume i can use the Cyclo 4" pads on the Metabo as well?

Now the question that remains is if the Cyclo is a better system than the PC/Metabo combination, cost notwithstanding?

I have no experience using a Cyclo other than holding one at a car show few years back, so I can't tell you how it compares to the PC as far as performance is concerned. I do know the Cyclo polisher only has a single speed setting and the shape of the unit is little awkward and bulky for my taste.

Yes, assuming the Cyclo pads have a felt backing.
