Cyclo Users: Wool Pads??

Has any Cyclo user tried the wool pads they make for it?? Sometimes the yellows just aren't enough. If so...what polish or compound did you use?

No wool. The most aggressive I go is the orange. If I need to go more aggressive, I break out the Metabo.

Enlighten me please. I do not have a rotary yet, but I am curious why you would say no. I have used the yellow cyclo pads a few times and have had the results I needed. Other than the speed of the cyclo (not variable) why else?

I never used the wool pads with the Cyclo because of how they behaved when I used them on the PC. Too much micromarring and just a *little* more cut than yellow foam pads; much more downside and barely any upside. IMO/IME if a yellow cutting pad won't do it you need a different machine.

Boy do I feel stupid! I didn't know they were available for the Cyclo.

They were available long before foam pads, dating to back when the Cyclos were used primarily to polish airplanes and aluminum travel trailers. Now-a-days they're probably used primarily under bonnets (a job for which I prefer foam anyhow), but they're still the ticket for polishing metals with the thing.

I agree exactly with Accumulator. I've tried them out a few times and the benefits of more cut are not worth the micromarring or the shedding of the pads and dust/splatter all over. If the yellow pad isn't going to cut enough, I'll use the rotary. I pretty much use my cyclo for just slight swirls/marring and applying LSPs.

Thanks for the info. I think I need to invest in a rotary machine and start practicing. I have only run into the need for something heavier than the yellow pad a time or two. I just took so long to complete the job.
