Cyclo and wet sanding test

Last week I had some scratchs in my paint.I want to see if my cyclo could get out 1500 sanding marks. So i washed and clayed the panel with the defects.Used yellow wool pads and op polish. It ony took me 2 passes sanding marks gone.So way do i need a rotary? Soon the rotary will not be the tool of choices.that just my opion.Take a look at automagic. They have a new system with the cyclo and there products.

Check the panel from a few different angles. OP against 1500 grit sanding seems like a mismatch unless you held the Cyclo on spot for a long time.

After using a rotary for a few weeks now, I can say that the it removes defects, including wet sanding marks significantly faster than the Cyclo. That isn't to say you can't get good correction with a Cyclo, I have one and it does a pretty good job but nowhere near as quickly as a rotary.

Thanks you guy for your respones.I guess a rotary is still a must.I love my cyclo, but I'm doing more details now,and time is money.its as all was given me good results.

I've used OC with a wool pad on a rotary and it didn't fully remove all 2000 grit marks(tracers) on navy blue metallic. Optimum products also leave a film from my experience. With a cyclo you probably didn't get them fully removed. With a rotary you can crank the rpm up to 2200 or 2400 rpm.

OC and an orange Soft Edge one step pad (seems to be a light cut pad) completely and easily removed 2000 grit wetsanding marks at 1800 rpm on my Maxima. And yes, I did an alcohol/water wipedown. Here it is 3 weeks later and they are still gone.

It's too broad of a statement to make that the Cyclo will/wont remove 2000 sanding marks as it will greatly depend on the hardness of the paint.

Sorry I should have taken a some pic's .its was done on my 04 chevy tahoe. Yes all the wet sanding marks were removed.By usuing a the cyclo with a yellow wool pads that are made for that machine.Purchase them from rightlook.com I used op polish, with the wool pad then, follow up with a green foam pad usuing med final finsh.I could have probbly used a green with op,but I just want to see how it would look.Came out clear.Used LSP PB Natty's paste. I think usuing the wool pad make the difference.
