Cycle Dry Review

When I first used Z-CS I had some problems with water seeping out of little nooks and crannies that would cause my applicator pad to get wet. Yeah, I've got a dedicated leaf blower, but I don't really care to drag that thing out. I also have an air compressor and a couple of shop vacs but in the back of my mind I wanted something a little smaller and more convenient to use. On another forum a couple of members mentioned using a Cycle Dry, so I thought I check them out.

I found a seller on eBay that had several (over 150) for sale at $39.95 with free shipping so I decided to order one so I wouldn't have the same problem when I tried the new Opti-Seal. I ordered this on a Monday and it arrived on Wednesday, so the shipping was not only free but fast!

My first impression when it arrived was it was smaller than I expected, but sometimes smaller is OK and I liked the fact that it has a rubble nozzle that will lessen the chance of paint marring if you bump your paint with it. This is a new model that has 15% more power. The specs are as follows:

6 foot power cord

110-Volts

15" long and weighs only 3 lbs.

Storage pouch included

Soft, Rubber nozzle won’t scratch paint

Aprox Air Speed: 112 MPH @ 1600 RPM

One hand operation with lock-trigger

Unit also comes with an extra set of brushes.

Obviously this was designed for motorcycles, but I figured it might just be the ticket for what I wanted it for. Late this afternoon I did an ONR wash and gave this little guy a test run. Since this was an ONR wash I didn't attempt to see how it would do drying a whole car, but it might not work too bad if you have a healthy LSP at blowing off at least a good percentage of water.

The Cycle Dry did a great job of blowing the water out of all the little nooks and crannies, mirrors, etc. so I could catch it with a WW. It also did a fine job on my wheels and tires, which was another reason I was looking for something like this.

Conclusion: The Cycle Dry was a purchase that I'm glad I finally made. I like the small size, light weight, the rubber nozzle, the storage bag, the trigger lock, and this thing blows a lot of air for being so small. It is a little noisy, but it isn't any louder that my shop vac or a leaf blower. $40.00 with free shipping is less than I pay for most of my orders of detailing supplies so I thought this was a pretty good deal. :2thumbs:

Eliot...I have bought the same thing on line..different color. You can search and find them anywhere between 10 to 15 dollars. They work decent in the short term but can overheat if run for more than 10 minutes. If you are a WW person and just use it for grilles and window channels and such it works fine. But it still in no way compares to a Metro.

Based on comments from other Harley owners just pay attention to the smell and shut down when necessary.
