Cutting Pad?

No, they're not dangerous.

Used with the right product they can do wonders.

For instance, I use the orange pad ( between a cutting pad and a polishing pad) with my PC on a 5 setting with 3M machine polish to remove scratches. It does a great job. For more serious scratches then a cutting pad would do fine.

Scotty, what kind of orbital buffer did you buy?

Uh, i've got some crappy waxmaster or something like that, but as soon as i get paid here in a few days, i'm going to get a PC...*waits impatiently*

Only danger I can think of that a cutting pad could do is cause its own micromarring in the paint. You would just have to follow with a polishing pad afterwards.

Well I'm using mequires deep crystal system *ducks and hides from everyone* and I figured i'd use the cutting pad for the paint cleaner, the polishing pad for the polish, the finishing pad for the wax, and then i like to go over it all with a terry bonnet to ensure that all wax is removed and you have a nice glass feeling...

I would recommend that you do NOT use a cutting pad with a Waxmaster orbital.........it will cause more marring than it removes....your paint will more likely than not look really dulled and hazy, perhaps even after a polishing pad as the Waxmaster doesn't have enough umph to spin the head fast enough to properly break down the abrasives.

Without proper lubrication from the product you use then the pad will just leave a ugly mess all over the car. I highly recommend you wait for the PC:nono :D

That's okay, I was going to wait anyway, tried to put my new foam pads on the crap master...my PC should be ordered in the next few days, then I'll just use the waxmaster to apply...Thanks for the heads up on that though :D

I'm not sure you even can use a cutting pad with the Waxmaster... don't those just use elastic or tie-on bonnets?

Anyway, if you think you have defect bad enough that you need the cutting pad, Deep Crystal cleaner isn't a good match for the cutting pad. That stuff is even milder than swirl remover, for reference, and the Step 2 Polish (GLAZE!) is probably best used with a finishing pad.
