Curing Times??

I did a search of these forum, and I read that carnauba wax has a curing time of 5-7 days. Does this mean if the car gets wet within that time, the wax won't fully bond? Also, does it mean that you can't layer on a sealant or different wax immediately after the first one? And I know some sealants have curing times, but does that apply to the PB's EX and/or EX-P? Does it mean that you can't layer natty's or carnauba on top immediately? IM CONFUSED!!! :dontgetit

On sealants the general rule is 24 hours to cure before adding another coat of anything, this also applies to PB products.....On carnuba wax I wait 24 hours to apply another coat, just to let it setup, I 've not heard of carnuba taking 5-7 days to fully cure.
 
General rule is yes...most all the cars that I do after wash and clay...I SWR if needed...P-w-C then either seal or paste wax.....Most the time its paste wax....That's not saying that I have not laid a cost of paste wax over EX right after appling it...I've done the is on my own cars and have not seen anything different....but I follow the 24 hour rule for the most part
 
Thanks, I'm gonna do exactly what you do--wash, clay, SSR, PWC, and then either natty's or EX. Does the EX or EX-P "drown" if they are the last step and exposed to water within 24 hrs.?
 
Any wax or sealant could have durabilty issues if rained upon immediately after application. The curing/ bonding of the products happen while the carriers are evaporating. That is why some people have problems once in a while with products applied during high humidity or evenings outdoors. :detective
 
oh one more point for detailing customers cars in one day...I would definitely immediately apply two coats of any LSP to ensure full coverage. For most LSP that is no more than a 15-20 minute process and well worth the time.:)

Not necessarily, it might, but it might work just fine. You will mostly hear about the fewer cases where a problem occured more then the success stories, as the second case people didn't even give it a thought.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS - 90% of the time they will answer your questions.
 
carnuba waxes can be layered one on top of the other with only an hour apart, using a spit shining method.

synthetics tend to be picky and need 24 hours between layers and 12 hours without water
 
One exception to the curing rule is Zaino, if you mix it with ZFX you can immediately apply another coat, layer as needed. It's also a good sealant for 1 day jobs because it lasts a long time. One problem is that it will show off your prep work like a magnifying glass, any swirls, scratches, or orange peel will be very obvious.
 
I kinda can't read the directions cuz i dont have the products--I'm trying to make an informed decision based on the answers from this forum
