My neighbor (GregTL) and I detailed a CTS for one of his co-workers. This guy caked on wax last fall and he didn't miss a single crack or crevice. We spend at least 90 minutes digging out old wax, and still didn't get it all (excuse the pic of the passenger side molding full of wax). We tried clay, iso/water mix, brushes, tar remover, bug squash and some areas just wouldn't budge! Unfortunately I was out of plastic razor blades, which probably would have done the trick. What ever paste wax he used -it was hard as a rock!
We had to turn this around in under 5 hours (interior/exterior) and we had our work cut out.
Process Used:
Wash - Optimum
Clay - Poorboys
Wheels - A2z and Trans-Mate Wheel Brightener
Wells - Poorboys APC, 50/50 mix.
The wash, wheels, and clay took well over an hour to complete. The wheels got a heavy dose of A2Z 3 times before we broke out the Trans-Mate, and we could have probably done them one more time. We basically hosed a clay bar. The car was caked in rail dust. The flats felt like 1000 grit sandpaper.
Compound - SSR3 via rotary @ 2000 RPM.
Polish - SSR2.5 via cyclo (most panels had to be done twice)
Finish Polish - SSR1 via PC @ 5
Seal - EX-P x 1, followed by UPP x 1
Trim:
Wheels - BnB
Wells - Used up various products that I don't use any longer (armor all, tire spray, etc...)
Interior - Optimum Protectant Plus.
Carpet:
Woolite mix (GSRstilez witches brew) with a Steam Buggy & shop vac.
As for the pictures...... When the car arrived we were in panic mode. ** Lots to do and not a lot of time ** Unfortunately we didn't get any before shots, but trust me, the car was loaded with medium to deep scratches on every panel, the wheels and wells didn't look like they've ever seen a cleaning product, and the interior carpets were scrubbed & extracted 3 times.
What made it all worth it..... His wife dropped him off, took a double take, parked her car to walk up and have a look. She blurted out 'that doesn't even look like the same car'.
Here are a few after pics. We had to hurry up and take a few photos before the customer arrived. He'd think we were nuts if he caught us snapping shots of his ride. That's GregTL in the second shot.
