Ok so I just received my Dewalt rotary and two 8.5 pads so I decided I needed to grab some more supplies. I have been shopping around and I found Proper Auto Car had the best prices/easiest website to navigate.

I decided to go with 4 and 6.5 inch pads after some searching on autopia.

3-3/4 inch Flexible Backing Plate for Circular Polishers

6 inch Flexible Backing Plate for Circular Polishers

6.5 inch, CCS White Polishing Pad

6-1/2 inch, CCS Yellow Compounding Pad

6.5 inch, CCS Orange Power Pad

4 inch, CCS, Orange Power Pad Jr.

4 inch, CCS, White Spot Polishing Pad

4-1/4 x 1 inch Foamed Wool Pad

6-1/2 x 1 inch Foamed Wool Pad

And Leatherique Basic Kit-after reading such good reviews I decided to give it a try. Do I need to follow it up with a conditioner?

So how does my list look, is there anything I need, or stuff I can get rid of?:nixweiss

Thanks,

Brandon

Good decision on getting smaller pads. I've used the 7.5" pads and although I thought I liked them a first the 6-6.5" pads are the way to go. Way less grabbing and a lot more control. See what you think of the CCS pads, I tried them and compared to the 6" variable contact concave pads they are not as easy to control. The white 6.5" CCS pads feel way to spongy and heavy to me, I don't like them. When applying any pressure they are down right nasty. Just my .02 worth. The PFW are great pads for major correction work as well as the yellow LC pads. You will also need some finishing pads like the LC black and LC blue pads. If I could only get one of those two I would opt for the black. The Leatherique kit is all you need as it has the rejuvenating oil and pristine clean. What polishes and compounds are you using?

Good call on the smaller pads, Ive been reading many reviews and they seem the way to go

Thanks for all the comments guys I will have to adjust my order. I was looking for a kit but it seems like I will have to piece all the stuff together. I kept on running across the problem of one site doing a 4 inch kit but not a 6 inch or vice versa. Where are most of you getting your pads from? I normally go with Meznerna IP then FP polish since I am mostly doing hard corvette clears, then going to Zaino.

Id suggest a few black pads for finessing and instead of organge maybe try some euro green pads, many people feel the orange is a little to aggressive for there liking.

I order my pads from carcaresmart.com which is in Canada, can't seem to find them anywhere else. The variable contact concave pads are hard to find but fantastic to use. If you are working on harder CC you should consider 106FF or better yet 106FA. They are designed for hard CC. When I switched to this polish I was amazed at how much better it worked for a two step polish. I use to use FP for a two step polish but 106FF has way more cut to finish up after your compounding stage and has all the gloss of FP. The difference between 106FF/106FA and FP on a two step polish on black paint is a dramatic improvement.

I've found that 6.5" and 4" pads (3.5" for purple foamed wool) work well with my rotary.

If you're polishing hard paint you may find that Menzerna IP and foam pads are ineffective, even with a rotary. On my wife's BMW, IP on an orange pad did nothing. I switched to Meguiar's #105 with a purple foamed wool pad, which was magical in removing swirls and finishing down amazingly well. Followed up with 106FF on a white pad, now you're talking shiny!

If you don't mind could you send me a pm of where you got your pads?

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the help, I got my order today from autogeek. I picked up some 4 and 5.5 inch pads via the advice from the fellow autopians.

Thanks again
