Critique needed on the 'For Sale' Ad for my Integra

My car will go up for sale in the beginning of March on Cars.com, AutoTrader, eBay, Craigslist, and various forums. I spent a couple weeks (little chunks of time) creating this 'For Sale' ad and wanted to have others check it out (thanks already to ebpcivicsi for helping me) to critique it.

I have a couple more interior shots to take as well as the couple small areas that are damaged, but overall...would you add/delete anything?

Thanks in advance!

For some reason when I clicked on the .pdf link it froze my machine up. When I did the "Save As" I could not open it from my desktop. I had to drag and drop it in the open Acrobat application. Maybe it's just my machine.

The .pdf file reads real well. Nice effort. If someone is truly interested in the vehicle, they will read through it all. However it seems a little repetitive in a couple places. You can cut it back without ommitting what you want to say.

I found 2 spelling errors:

1) "Jams" should be spelled "Jambs"

2) "Insure" should be spelled "Ensure" You used the wrong word to describe.

I have one (minor) critique. I would change the wording of the link to say:

For Complete Description, Modification List & Maintenance History (right click "save as")

Nice work though :up

That's quite a write up Sean. I'll be surprised if someone on the boards doesn't grab it! It's an icon around here :)

Looks good Sean, probably one of the most thorough ads I've ever seen.

As others said you should have no problem selling it. Hopefully it goes to a nice owner who can appreciate it and maintain it like you. I know your a member on TI but you should also consider putting it up on CRSX also, you seem to have a nice "rep" on there.

So once the Teg is gone what should we expect to see you in?

THANK YOU!

I have fixed all of the errors noted thus far.

Keep it coming.

Seth: I think it might be your machine. I had a couple friends try and it worked fine.

Johnny: I change my mind weekly, sometimes daily. I think it will be a surprise to me, too.

I think the ad is perfect. You'll sell it within a week, I bet. That is such a sweet car. A good buyer will really appreciate the effort you put into the car and the ad. Great job.

Sean,

Very thorough. My points are more about your comparisons. I doubt the car gets to 60 in 5.9s. Stock, the car is a 7s car, I doubt a header, and exhaust will do that much. It also varies by the skill of the driver. I would just drop that from your "specs". Also, you might want to compare the car more to an S2000 than to an AWD Evo or a RWD big bhp Vette. The S is somewhat comparable to the Teg.

You might want to put the price on the Web part of the page. If someone can't afford 11k, no need for them to save the PDF, or wait for the PDF to open. In fact, along with the price, I would have a small bulleted list.

Something like, 100k miles, $9000 in mods, Owned by a Professional Detailer, etc, the big ticket items.

Good luck.

erik: Point taken, thank you.

I agree with you that the skill of the driver matters a lot. With G-Tech Pro (no flames), I achieved an average of 5.9s. I have an intake and header back exhaust (all 2.5" compared to 2.0"). The lightweight flywheel (less than 1/2 the weight of stock), race clutch, z-rated tires, and stiff race suspension all help to a hard launch. Of course this was with warming up the tires first, cooler weather, and a flat, straight line...Tests were done over 3 attempts. Stock the car does 7.1...I don't think 1.2 seconds with a couple thousand into the engine/suspension/tires is unfeasible, but I clearly understand where you are coming from. You own a Honda, so you know how hard it is to make power :). I will think about removing that.

I compared to an Evo/Vette for the strict fact that I've been in those cars before. When I drove the Evo9 a couple months back, it rivaled to how my car bites into turns. I chose the Vette because its the only vehicle I felt I was almost "falling" in to. Does your S2k feel like that? I'm open for options because I know that a Vette, generally speaking, is a very different car than mine.

Thanks for the comments.

Looks good Sean, kind of sad though that these are probably going to be the last pics of your car we'll see. It is absolutely gorgeous. Between the car and the ad, you should come out ok.

Sean – I can tell you’ve put much thought into this. It’s comprehensive, very nice :xyxthumbs

I would drop ‘Noted Problems.’ You can casually mention them to a prospective buyer, but putting it in writing gives them a bargaining chip to dump the bid.

Good luck.

Good point. They are rather minor anyways...I just didn't know if thats what people looked for. State of mind being, "Hey, he put those minor damages in, he must be honest/thorough about everything".

Maybe I am just a big computer dork, but I think you should change the link of your email address into a jpeg. Active email links are just asking to be harvested by junk mail spiders. Of course if that email address was created for the purpose of selling your car then no big deal...

Anyways, the ad is thorough and comprehensive w/o being overwhelming. Its a shame that the teg is finding another home, but I am looking forward to your new car.

MCA: How do I go about doing that?

Thanks for the comments.

I might sell my 1999 Integra LS its an Auto and get this..I am in NY too.. lemme know when you list it on eBay or maybe we can do private sale.

Have you considered parting out your mods beacuse you'll get more money back that way. In the condition your car is in, you could probably sell it for the amount your asking for as a stock car.

"breaks" should be "brakes" under Braking bullet point.

I hope you get your price but I don't think you will find a buyer right off the bat. The car only books for $5,200 and mods are something that someone really has to be looking for a willing to pay for to add to the value. If it doesn't work out then you can strip the mods and sell them to other Integra drivers separately.
