I would sell it at a cheaper price, like trade in cars at a dealership. Maybe in some kind of "Bargain Bin" deal. For pricing just do a ratio of how much a full bottle costs and how much is in it to how much is in the used bottle and how much it should cost. People are bound to buy it, especially if its something they want that you currently dont sell. With that said, you could also see what products you should start to sell.

Sell sample kits from it. LIke divvy it up into little bottles and sell it. Then if you want to TRY Natty's Blue before you buy a HUGE container of it, you can order a small sample from you for $3 or so.

A problem I see with this idea is that, you might end up getting a couple drops left over with the container or you will get the left over wax that is on the bottom of the can, that was basically done with in the first place. So you might end up getting someones left overs but there might not be any left over product at all (someone trying to screw you).

There are a lot of products out there so expecting to get a lot of the same chemical to make up a larger volume to try and resell might be slim, unless your business gets really busy. You will have a lot of different chemicals laying around if you try to bottle all the same kind to resell.

The only thing I can think of is try and mix up something between them and see if you get some new cool product out of it. Otherwise, I think you will just end up with a bunch of waste basket stuff.

Why would you want to sell a product that someone has turned to to get a (supposedly) better product? Makes no sense. Say I own a convenience store and only sell Pepsi products, and if you bring me a half of a six pack of Cokes, I will give you a discount on Pepsi. Now, why would I turn around and sell the Cokes (even at a discount)? It totally dilutes your credibility on the products you sell. Chuck 'em or give them to the local vocational school body shop.

I believe you're thinking along the lines of a car trade in on a new car, but I don't think you can do that with something that has so little value like half a bottle of wax.

(disclaimer: not a professional detailer, but own a marketing company)

I agree with "kompress." Taking the financial aspect into effect, I think you will end up loosing more money on this idea than making any (short-term and long-run).

Plus the convenience, most people are not interested in packaging and sending something out for a couple of dollar savings, when it costs more in shipping. (if you are dealing with an online business).

Also, what if they're trading in an open 6 year old container of wax that has lost all protective qualities?

thanks for the ideas guys, the idea was not to actually make a profit out of what was traded but to possibly create an intrest in generating sales, i thought it sounded better than offering just a discount.

beachy, good idea man ta.

thanks again guys

Yeah, sample your own products for clients to try out. Nothing more than 4 ounces.

This will help you more in the long run.

I agree to use as samples, or free bies for cust after the cars have been detailed. Giving someone the little extra will always prompt them to return, short term cost for long term gain.

I also think it adds an extra service to your list, great idea
