Craftsman Random Orbital

Hey guys, I already spent the money on a Craftsman Random Orbital and want to take out some swirls. I don't really want to throw down the money for a PC.

Is there some kind of pad I can buy for it and some polish that will remove water marks and swirls on my black car?

Nope, you'll never get anywhere with that machine. It's pretty much for product removal only, and I wouldn't let it touch my car unless it had a microfiber bonnet on it. Unfortunately, the only way you are going to be able to remove swirls is with a quality DA like the ones made by Porter Cable and Cyclo or a rotary buffer. Out of the group, the PC is the cheapest and will be the best $99 plus tax you will ever spend.

Have you tried holding one of those craftsmans while they're on? Mine (before I found the PC) is near impossible to hold due to massive vibrating. I'd return it, you'll be glad you did. BTW I was in your position before but the PC is really worth it, its not just hype.

Think of the PC as an investment or buying the right tool for the job. The PC is so highly recommended on this forum because it is a great tool which is easy to use and produces great results. It does have its limitations but it is worth every penny

I cannot answer your question directly but i want to remind you that with that $99 you do not get what you need to do a car.

Go to a online site such as Classic Motoring or Top of the line and purchase a Pc kit that has pads and backing plate. You need all of these to get the job done. Spend the money. You will not regret the purchase.

You can get the PC at lowe's for $99.

Then buy the backing plates and pads for $50+ or so.

I have a craftsman 6" RO buffer I bought when I was young and dumb....what a waste of $50. The bonnet sits still while the thing spins....
