Craftsman 7 in. or 10 in. Buffer/Polisher

Short answer: No, not really. These will do absolutely nothing for defect removal. About all they are good for is spreading wax and if you don't mind doing that by hand then it isn't worth it.

Pop for a Porter Cable or a UDM, you will be glad you did. Much more correction power, far wider pad selection, etc.

Do you recommend the 7424 or the 7336?
They are basically the same thing except one has a slightly different counterweight. The counterweight is either a 5" or 6" rated weight and if you want to swap them out they can be picked up for $2 or $3. I'd personally spring for the more powerful UDM, otherwise between the 7424 and 7436 just get the one you can pick up cheaper.

I have a 7 in Craftsman and then upgraded to the UDM. I would say look into the UDM. I love mine. I would spend a whole day working with the Craftsman and not really see a whole lot of progress but with the UDM there is a very noticeable difference.

I searched for Craftsman and didn't find anything directly. I'm sure it's been mentioned but there was no specific thread.

What's the consensus on these buffer/polishers? Are they worth it?

About the only thing a machine like this is good for is removing wax. That's about it.....well, the kiddies love to play with them too. :chuckle:

Seriously, go with a UDM. :waxing:
