Anyone have experience with this vac? Craftsman 12-gal 5.0 peak hp Wet/Dry Vac

It comes with a few generic accessories for cleaning and also has a blowing port rated for 160mph blowing velocity. Overall rating on the website is 4.8 with 28 reviews.. 27 of which would 'recommend to a friend' but I was wondering what your autopian opinions are.

I've done a lot of searching on these forums and a lot of people recommend the rigid units here and a few of you guys have the 6.5hp 16gal craftsmans but I haven't seen much of anything on these 5.0hp/12gal units. Primary reason for looking at this unit is because my friend works at Osh and will get me 20% off and they only carry these craftsman units.

Thanks in advance

wait till the black friday sell at HD and they usually have the ridgid 5.0HP 12 gallon wet/dry vac for $29...

I've had my 4.25 hp 12 gallon Sears Wet/Vac since 2000 and it still works fine. The only thing I had to do is replace 2 of the caster wheels that fell off.

Sears has their filters 50% off or BOGO free every once and awhile and I'll stock up. They also have fine particulate and HEPA filters for using the vac inside homes or for drywall use.

I can only imagine the newer units have slightly more powerful motors.

home depots black friday list has been released.. i held off on buying in hopes of a good deal but the only wet-vac theyve listed for the black friday deal is:

RIDGID 4-GALLON PORTABLE WET/DRY VAC

5.0 Peak HP

4-gallon drum

Rear accessory storage caddy

Handle for portability

RIDGID LIFETIME WARRANTY

$79.00 dollars

(btw, anyone know if this vac has a blowing feature?)

It doesn't show the model number of the unit but I took a pic from the online black friday catalog.. Although this vac probably goes for $99 (im guessing), $79 still doesn't seem like a great deal.. I think the craftsman unit I was going to buy when I started this thread was either $79 or cheaper to begin with. Should I be looking at different brands/models/makes to find a better black friday deal? Even without black friday deals, I can get 20% off any day at Osh from a friend that will discount me.. anyways, heres the pic:

edit: nevermind, didn't see the 3.5hp on this vac, the image was too small when i was actually viewing it the first time. scratch this..

edit2: hmm.. damn looks like the work lights won't be on sale at all this year.. was looking at getting some halogen work lights..

wait a minute.. heres another one from the same black friday catalog, why is this one so much cheaper? forgot to ask if you guys know if either of these vacs have a blowing capability too?

Still haven't picked up a vac.. just came across an extra $125 to purchase a new toy. I'm considering waiting for this years black friday again lol. Maybe I'll just jump on it.. I did see the deal on those craftsman work lights though! Tempting.....

im gonna pick this one up, its a little bigger, but the size doesnt matter much since the top of it detaches from the dirty part to become a serpate blower rated at 265mph

RIDGID 16 Gal 6 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vac With Detachable Blower - WD1665 at The Home Depot

im hopin its worth the 100, 6.5hp, 16gal 6.5hp with a 265mph blower, for 100 bucks?????? possibly the best deal ive seen for what i need it for. especially good since you dont have to worry about particles coming back through the filter and spraying the car since the blower detaches completely.

I would definitely recommend getting those work lights. I picked them up and I am pretty happy with their construction. With dual halogen lighting for $25 you really can't go wrong.
