Cracked Chrome

I just purchased some GM stock rims that have been chromed. One of the rims has a small hairline crack in the chrome is catchable with your fingernail. It is on the outer rim just shy of the tire so it is really not noticible now but if it flakes it will be noticible. Does anyone know of something I can use to put over this to keep it together or does it need to be re-chromed?

Thanks,
Jeff

I say it needs to be rechromed . Maybe some anti-rust treatment . I've never done this before but what if you tried applying some clear enamel to stop the peeling. I don't know if it would work..

:yeah chrome is only a thin plating and when it goes..it's gone...no repairs will last:( sorry try putting a sealant over it after you thoroughly clean it, and the last step I would do would involve some iso-alchohol to make sure it's really dry and clean before sealing. If you seal dirt or moisture intothat crack, the plating will peel faster:eek :bigscream
