covering 845

I have been a user of 845 since 1974 because it's a great product. The questions is...will using a "quick detailer" on a surface treated with 845 cause harm or shorten it's life?

jimmie jam- I've had problems using FK425 and QwikShine (?sp?) on Collinite, but my other QDs work fine on it.  IIRC, Scottwax uses the QwikShine without any problems, but it sure wasn't Accumulator-proof.

I especially like Griot's Speedshine on Collinite, they work well together IME.

Quikshine (made by Clearkote) worked fine for me over 476, don't remember for sure about 845 since I wasn't that impressed by it and didn't use it for very long.

Scottwax- Heh heh, yet another of those !YMMV! situations where your experience was better than mine!  Gee, the Pro with all that experience doesn't have as many problems as Accumulator does...hmmm...males one think "can you say 'user-error'? "  doesn't it?!?

In my case it happened on that metallic black Yukon XLD I used to have (same vehicle I had FK1000P layering issues on)..just figures that all my problems seemed to happen on that huge thing.  I don't want to extrapolate *too* much from isolated incidents, and that vehicle's paint simply drove me nuts, but anyhow the Quikshine-on-Collinite sure did bite me.  When something's not Accumulator-proof, then it's *CERTAINLY* not idiot-proof ;)  and I bet both are a long way from Scottwax-proof!

I have no problem using FK425 over 845. Although my 4Runner is silver so I cant see any streaking.

As far as effecting the shine and durability I have not noticed that either.  Shines and beads great all summer long.

Clarification- The FK425 didn't *always* mess with either of the Collinites for me, but when it did it was *BAD*.

IME the FK QDs don't kill off nearly-dead LSPs the way some QDs can, but rather help them hang on.  Or maybe they just bolster whatever's left.  But whatever happens I've not had any downsides (othe than those incidents on Collinite).
