Country music, are you kidding me?

Any other country music fans?

I was the type that when asked "What type of music do you like?" I would reply, "Pretty much everything but country."

I cannot say this anymore. I am really starting to like it. Perhaps is because seeing all these pop tarts and lame a$$ hip hop "stars" produce the same crap over and over again. Country just seems to be one of the few music sceens out there right that is getting it right. The songs are good, not that twang my grandpa listened to. They deal with modern issues without grabbing their privates and cussin out everyone and their mother, sometimes including their mother lol.

I just like it more and more each day.

What are your thoughts?

Seems kids today don't buy an album unless it has a parental advisory label on it, same goes for video games. Geez where are the parents?

I am stuck in the '80s myself though, I still love old classic rock. I have also been listening to country for years. My CD changer currently has Aerosmith, Van Halen, Bob Seger, Trapt, George Strait and Keith Urban in it.

You sound like my brother. He has been a huge classic rock fan for years but a while back he started listening to country as well and now he is a huge fan. One day I was going somewhere with him and he had on KSCS (a country station) and he said "I can't

believe I actually like this

"

He even has a pair of ropers now!

I listen mostly to classic rock still but I like country too, especially Robert Earl Keen. I also like classical music, some alt-rock and 70's funk.

Im not saying that I would not listen to modern and classic stuff. Just is refreshing.

In the CD changer is John Mayer, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, the new NIN (IT ROCKS) DMX, Old Skool Ice Cube, and Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith.

How is that for a mix of music? On the drive home I find myself hitting the XM Radio country or the modern rock channel Lucy.

I am enjoying country more and more. My girlfriend's cousins got her into it, who now has me into it.

Would you ever believe hearing Tim McGraw coming from my car :lol?

I was confused there for a second and then I realized you were talking about Mr. Faith Hill :D

We used to listen to country music back whenwe lived in Texas, about ten years ago. It just seemed like the thing to do in Texas...

But now, I'm a huge fan. The music is boring.

It's funny... I make fun of my Dad for having just turned 41, but I listen to the music that was popular when he was a kid. AD/DC, Zepplin, Skynard, Van Halen, Hendrix, etc...

Yeah my sister turned me onto it like a year ago. I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to like it at all. You'd be surprised how many country CD's I have now lol...:D

It is sad that some of the most popular "artists" are the ones that cannot leave drugs, sex, violence, and continous profanity out of their lyrics. They are not artists.

I do not listen to much music and I grew tired of country (all anyone in my family listened to for years) but at least there is more true talent and class in that genre.

I used to say "everything but country" too. Coming back from Nashville, I have to drive through southwest Virginia. After six hours of driving, I give up on my cds and always listen to the radio. SW Virginia has some "rock" stations (your favorite 5 hits all day, every day) with poor reception and REALLY strong country stations. I got tired of channel surfing and just left it on country. After two hours, I realized that I really liked it. It has actual instruments, a good story, and is humorous most times.

Now, I can say "anything," but I still mostly listen to newgrass (slamgrass, jamgrass, etc..).

Actually I have Tim Mcgraw in the cd changer right now too. Of course it's the song he did with Nelly though...:)

I like country music if it actually sounds like country music, not "pop music with a twang." When it comes to country, I mostly like the older artists and some of the "Americana" (or alternative country) that doesn't seem to get much airplay on the radio. Some of the more mainstream acts that I like are Lee Ann Womack and Alan Jackson. But a lot of the mainstream "country" music just makes me want to hurl.

Pick up Robert Earl Keen's Picnic and The Party Never Ends. REK is the best songwriter out there right now and his band is composed of some seriously talented musicians.

Sometimes it nice just to have a change. I know the few times a year I go out to PA, we usually listen turn on the country stations once we get on the windy roads and start seeing farms and cattle. I'm pretty open to everything and if you give something a chance you might actually enjoy it. I usually listen to club or rock and one weekend my mom and sister used my car. My sister had left her Hilary Duff cd in my car and I found myself listening to it and enjoying it on my way to school. Granted I'm not Hilary Duff's biggest fan, but its good to change it up once in a while.

I am starting to think I am the only left that says "everything but country" when asked. I cant get into it. It is annoying to me. I have tried to listen to it to be open but the conclusion is the same. turn the channel as fast as I can. My musical tastes really do vary everything but country. I am huge fan of underground music everything from trance to funky hard house. rock, alternative, some select rap eminem comes to mind, very limited classic rock, tori amos, natalie merchant, Poe are all in the disc changer at any given time. But still no country.

When question like this come up, I always think of that line from the Blues Brothers movie...We like both kinds of music...Country and Western. :p

I don't have satellite radio, so I am limited to over the air broadcast stations. Other than WRR FM 101 our local classical station, country music stations offer the best fare for my listening tastes. Our "classic rock" stations don't do the genre justice with their playlists. Public radio station KERA will provide some interesting artists time and again, but several years ago they dropped the majority of their all music programs.

What the heck is "trance" music anyway? Never mind, I don't think I want to know. "House" music, that must be what's currently playing in my house right now. :D (Unlce Walt, BTW)

WHOA!!! Was there another tragic plane crash which took out all (but Robert Earl) of the remaining Texas singer/songwriters (RIP Buddy Holly, Uncle Walt et al)? Don't get me wrong, Robert Earl is good and definitely better than some of the rest. The Front Porch Song (co-written with Lyle Lovett â€â€œ a pretty fair songwriter in his own right) is one of my all time favorites, I do prefer Lyleâ€â„¢s performance. The Road Goes On Forever is a pretty good party â€â€œ letâ€â„¢s all sing the chorus -- song, but there is no greatness there and The Five Pound Bass is way over rated IMO. I wonâ€â„¢t go through his entire catalog. There are a number of Texas writers which would give him a run for his money as the title of The Best

Hmmm I live in Texas and can't say that I listen to country. I guess that's like a crime. :D

Nothing but oldies (Jimi, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, ect...) and some newer stuff like Tool (yea, I'm a Tool zealot) and other harder stuff like old Metallica. Who knows, maybe some day I'll start listenin to country... :nixweiss

I find it ironic that it took a country music star to get a classic rock band like Chicago in the studio again-XXX should be out this fall
